They were good times, weren't they? My good friend Shirow (of halflife.net and Digital Gunfire) once operated the Ministry of Development, an insanely popular HL mod information site. Well, he managed to get his hands on Beta 1 before anyone else did and wrote about his playtest of the mod.
(Note: This is from an old archive, so a lot of the images/links are broken.)
For all of you Beta 1 veterans out there, you'll recall how you'd have to look a person's sleeves to determine if they were CT or T; guns had perfect accuracy; the M4 had a scope; etc. Check out this clip from the ancient playtest:
Second up is this interview with Gooseman. It's so old that he his answers are longer than the questions! There's also some background on the "FA vs CS" wars and the Backstreet Boys. Here's a piece of that:

If you look at the screenshots, you'll notice the old Half-Life HUD and the huge ammo clips.Currently, there are about 8 weapons in the game, with Gooseman working on adding more before the games final release. You can get a glimpse of some of these weapons in the boxes on the right. All of them are currently held in the left hand, due to the fact that Gooseman is, in his own words, a 'left handed gimp'. Although some people profess to find this annoying, they mostly line up perfectly with the center, and personally I prefer side held weapons to center, as it allows you to see more detail on the model.

Here's a spoiler from this fossil-of-an-interview:GM: First off, I just want to apologize to the fine folks developing the Firearms MOD (especially Caspar). Earlier this month, I got in a little messageboard argument with them (mostly my fault) and I just wanted to publicly apologize to them. I also want to thank Cliffe for helping out with the mod so much. If it wasn't for his incessant rambling about the BackStreet Boys I can almost consider Cliffe a good guy. BTW, AJ Mclean can kick the crap out of Nick the mushroom head! I know that shouldn't belong in this interview and I apologize for that as well.
Liar, liar! Much thanks go out to Shirow for hooking me up with these old articles. Also, be sure to stop by and listen to Digital Gunfire, Shirow's streaming music site/server!What are your plans for the future? Does Team Fortress 2 call?
Gooseman: If TF2 calls, tell him I ain't home...
