Apparently the search is back up, this time sponsored by InfoTiger.com. At the moment, an impressive 26,696 players and 5,219 servers are available for searching. For newcomers, the HLPS will quickly track down your friends playing HLDM, CS, or TFC. No word yet on who the hell is responsible for this.
