    CS Bots?

I don't know how good these bots are going to be in the first version, but here's the scoop straight from the email I received from Erik Karssen of gamers.nl:
The biggest Dutch gamesite Gamers.nl has gotten their hands on some exclusive Counterstrike news. It seems that a Dutch guy named [SwS]Data is very close of finishing a bot for the Half-Life mod Counterstrike. The best news is that the bot is very close to a public release that accourding to the author should be this week! If the bot is released it can be found on Botepidemic.com.

They even got their hands on a part of the readme.txt.

    Here's a snip:

    About the Android bot

    ---------------------

The Android bot is a server-side bot for the counterstrike mod for halflife.

The bot is still under development and it is currently an ALPHA version.

This means that this version of the bot is a TEST version with very primitive AI (Artificial Intelligence) and very poor level support. The only map currently supported is DE_DUST. What the bot currently does is randomly walking through the map and shooting at the other team. It also buys weapons with the money it has. The bot respects all rules that apply to human players so it in no way cheats. The bot has a human-like aiming system with smooth view-movement that tries to simulate a human using a mouse.

In future versions additional map support will follow for all counterstrike maps, and the bot AI will be improved so that the bots will follow the goals of a map (plant bomb, rescue hostages etc) and use good, human-like tactics and teamplay, like defending important points on a map, sticking together in a rush and sniping. Intelligent use of the weapons will also be implemented. The bot in its final form is meant to be a good replacement for playing counterstrike online against human players.
Here's the original news post (in Dutch).
