    HL update news

Not really CS news, but CS is a HL mod, so :P
Kirkland, WA (May 1, 2000) -Valve, L.L.C. today announced a number of enhancements and updates are being prepared for Half-Life, the epic action thriller named Game of the Year by over 50 publications. The releases will include new Half-Life technology, new Half-Life multiplayer games, updated versions of popular game modifications (MODs), and new toolsets for MOD authors.

"Continued support for Half-Life has been an important factor in helping us achieve 2 million copies sold worldwide and becoming the number one action game played online," said Gabe Newell, manager director of Valve, L.L.C. "This next round of releases will put some of our next generation tools in the hands of MOD authors, greatly increase the size of our online community, as well as enhance the Dreamcast version of Half-Life."

Specific details on the new releases will be made available over the next two weeks.
Of course, some of the new features will really affect CS..

    HL update news

I found this by way of PHL and asspennies. Here's the dig:
    Two Half-Life Updates Coming Soon

Half-Life updates 1.1.0.7 and 1.1.0.8 will be released in the coming weeks.

Update 1.1.0.7, which contains Deathmatch Classic and introduces new update/downloading functionality, will be issued next week.

Update 1.1.0.8, which contains Voice and the Multicast Spectator technologies, and was previously referred to as 1.1.0.7, will be released in mid July. This update also contains a fix for the GL wall hack, and will be previewed at this week's CPL event in Dallas.

The Voice and Multicast Spectator features will be compatible with all Half-Life Mods, and Valve will be supporting the Mod teams to have these features working immediately in popular HL Mods such as Day of Defeat and more.
Well it looks like we may have to wait a couple weeks, but this is actually very sweet news.

It looks as have Valve will be packing a new auto-update feature, ala Tribes 2, which will mean speedier updates and cheat fixes, something that I've been waiting for. Be forewarned though, it looks like 1.1.0.7 will be around 10 megs because of DMC being included.
