    CPL News

The Cyberathlete Professional League has posted two new press releases. The first states that CS 1.5 will be used at the upcoming Summer Championship in Dallas, Texas. In doing so, the tournament rules have been updated.

The second press release announced that the Dallas event is completely full. Since I know how much everyone hates long newsposts, click through for the whole release.[break]
The Cyberathlete Professional League announced today that all spectator passes have been taken, and that both the BYOC and the $100,000 Counter-Strike (CS) tournament are now closed to the general public. Only CS teams that gain a berth via a certified CPL Qualifying Center or LAN will be allowed to register online (50 BYOC spots have been reserved for auto-berth teams).

Over 3,000 people from 64 different countries have registered for the CPL's Pentium 4 Summer Championship.

Members of the press wanting free press access to the CPL summer event must email press@thecpl.com requesting a press pass. The body of the email must include: complete name, name of media company, URL of media company and type of coverage (TV, press, magazine, newsletter, radio, web, etc.). Press members are not allowed to bring full size computers to the event.
    I feel giddy with joy.

The Cyberathlete Professional League has been active recently with some interesting news.
      • the upcoming summer tournament has been renamed to "pentium 4 summer championship 2002." this emphasizes "that intel corporation is now the leading sponsor."

      • frank nuccio has announced a change in the way nicknames will be formatted in cs. players may now use their last name along with their nickname:
        [tag]lastname <nick>

        i.e.

        [cpl]fontenot <que_solo>
      • registration has re-opened for teams "that already have confirmed registrations for the $100,000 counter-strike tournament and teams that have obtained an autoberth via a certified qualifying regional event." couldn't have said it better myself.
      Only 30 days left.

Sk's nuke game is amazing from both sides. Potti dominating the CT and Heaton dominating the Tside. 3D doesnt stand a chance.
