I remember when I just starting being in a cal-m clan and throwing a nade into the t-side bridge room and killing one of my teammates. Shortly thereafter I was cut. FF is teh pwn. Anyway, FF is good for matches/scrims/pugs, but not pub servers. IMHO.

Don't speak of this. Every n00b and his ugly inbred dog will be on my favorite FF server before the week is out.

Good, humorous article. Enjoyed it I did.
Some times a spastic individual that has had way too much caffeine will start swinging his knife around just to have something to do. You will hear it cut another player during the run. I see this one every single time I play and all I can think of is this is the reason why I wasn't allowed to run with scissors when I was in kindergarten.
                Ah, classic.

Although, the proliferance of these FF servers can only be a bad thing, because you Americans are quite experienced when it comes to friendly-fire aren't you...

Friendly-fire on pub servers is really an interesting phonemnon.

Admittedly, CS has a unique style of play which makes FF incidents very frustrating when teammates are inconsiderate or malintentioned. Other online team-based games, BF1942 for example, elicit much less rage when TKing occurs. I think this is because of CS' round-based structure.

When I was involved with the administration of a popular 32-player server on the East Coast back in the CS1.3 days, we found FF a very useful tool for dealing with cheaters and other undesireables. Remember this was long before the days of Cheating Death, Punk Buster, or VAC. Offending players would be buried at spawn near the start of the round, and FF would be silently toggled on. It doesn't take long for knife-practicing dweebs to take care of business. Then FF is silently toggled off. Joy.

FF toggle-keys are also useful in certain camping situations. A bomb-carrying camper's refusal to move is usually met with team-mates shooting at them. A quick toggle of the keys can change the pace of the round dramatically.

In current CS servers, ATAC makes FF useful when it is configured with the ban option. If you don't like a player on the server, just get them to TK you and you have your choice of slappage, burial, kick or ban. Customers want choice!

In any case, FF can be a remarkably useful tool.

Yea, thats another reason why I dislike ATAC. Its fucking garbage, especially when idiots ban/kick you for a simple incident where they jumped into a firefight with 2 hp and are wondering "how in the hell I shot them!?"

                            Idiots tbh.

I hated FF until we started scrimming and stuff. It's actually kind of fun and definitely keeps you on your toes. But yeah, I agree with what's been repeated 75 times here already; FF sucks on public servers. Even if you somehow manage to avoid some idiot teamkiller you've still got those people that haven't figured out that CS has radar and shoot at everything coming around corners or entering doorways.
