  • Minecraft: Switch Edition Features Larger Worlds Compared to Wii U, World Transfers, and 60FPS

The Minecraft stream that focused on the Nintendo Switch version of the game wrapped up earlier this afternoon. A few important details were shared for Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition that we will pass along to you.

First up, the game is reportedly running at a lovely 60FPS on the Nintendo Switch. This shouldn't come as too big of a surprise but it's important to note that in comparison, the Vita version runs at an average of 20-25FPS.

The game worlds will also be "Medium" in size. This will give players an area 3072 by 3072 blocks to create on and explore. Compared to the Vita, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U versions which all run at 864x864. It is, however, smaller than the "large" versions on the PS4 and XB1 which allow for 5120x5120 sized worlds.

Perhaps more importantly, the team is actively working on a transfer system that will allow you to bring over your Minecraft world from the Wii U version in to the Switch version. Sadly, they said that this feature will not be available at launch.

As we noted previously, Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition will arrive in a little under a month on May 11.
