  • Konami Confirms That They Hate Money and Their Fans - Silent Hills is Officially Cancelled

It's officially official today as Konami themselves have now said that Silent Hills is cancelled. A statement from Konami to Kotaku gives us the sad, but expected, state of Silent Hills that we knew already.
"Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.

In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements."

Well, Konami has already crapped all over Hideo Kojima and his team, so I wouldn't really hold my breath on his involvement. And Guillermo del Toro has already said that he was really only interested in working with Hideo Kojima, sooooooo...

So there it is, official confirmation that Silent Hills as we knew it to be is officially dead. Kojima has essentially been fired from Konami and will only remain there until the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Del Toro was really only interested in working with Kojima. After 2015, Pro Evolution Soccer might be the only thing Konami still has going for its gaming division and who knows how long that will last.
