Last week, EA Germany announced that Dead Space will be released in Germany on November 6th. The award-winning new survival horror game was threatened in recent weeks, because the German age rating authority, USK, had declined to grant the game an age rating. Without this rating, EA would have not been able to publish the game in Germany. The game was submitted twice to the USK testing committee before receiving a clearance on a third review.
Dead Space is a bold and often-bloody sci-fi survival horror game that is designed to deliver the ultimate in psychological thrills and gruesome action. The Sci-fi action calls for intense gore and character dismemberment, much like a Hollywood horror movie. These horror themes are central to the creative core of the game, so it was important to EA that the game remain the same in all territories. Dead Space will now be released unchanged for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Germany on November 6th with the age rating "restricted for those below the age of 18" [18+].
