    Team Excello Guide to Support

Team Excello has posted a guide focusing on the support role in World in Conflict. Take a look:
    Before you get started...

    1. Enabling Camera Freedom: Right-click on your icon for starting World in Conflict, select "Properties." Where you see the "Target" line, add "-console" at the end. You should see: E:GamesWiCwic.exe -console (or similar, depending on your unique installation). When you've launched WiC, press your tilde key (~) twice, and type "bind x camerafreedom," where x is any key on your keyboard that you're not using for anything else. At the start of every game, press your bound key to enable camera freedom; with freedom enabled, your zoom distance increases exponentially, allowing you to observe much more of the battlefield at any given time.

    2. Binding Hotkeys: I cannot stress enough the importance of binding comfortable hotkeys, particularly for reverse move, stop, and your defensive/offensive abilities. You must be able to reach for these keys without a moment's delay or hesitation.

    3. Graphics Settings: Unless you're on a powerhouse of a system, I sincerely suggest setting your graphics as low as you can aesthetically tolerate. Especially with camera freedom, your system will be rendering much more of the game at any given time. The last situation you want to be stuck in is having a second of delay on popping smokes or not being able to fire off that e-repair a split-second faster, you'd be amazed how the smallest issues can cost entire games.

    Now that you're in-game...

You've joined a game and chosen a team. We'll assume you've joined a game that's just starting. What should you start out with? This will be your first judgement call - variables to consider include the map, spawn locations of your teammates, what roles your teammates are playing, any objective or teamwork anyone is discussing, and so on. Typically, a handful of AAs and a repair tank are going to be your most common initial spawn. What about heavy arty?! All the cool kids have heavy arty! Although the most expensive and devastating piece of hardware on the field, the damage dished by heavy arty is, in 99 situations out of 100, tremendously outclassed by bringing two different units instead. What about situation #100? That's when you're facing infantry deeply entrenched in buildings, too numerous to use LGBs and too spread to use a chemical strike. Typically if the situation calls for heavy arty, you're probably already in a world of trouble. Besides AAs, reps, and heavy arty, the only unit you'll be using much is medium arty - we'll discuss that more in a bit, it's rare (but not unheard of) to be seen on an initial spawn.
