I used the mines on Karkand at the main Mec base after we capture it and place three mines on the first entrance and two mines on the farther entrance. Easy kills. The key is to place them on the top slope so they can not see it.

Great tips but one thing that I'd like to see more than great places to plant the C4: The best way/places to hide AFTER planting it.

I don't know about you guys, but it always seems that once I pull off the perfect layout of C4, I'm on my way to a spot that I think looks great for hiding, then suddenly *BAM* I either get:
A. Artillery blasted
B. Run over by a vehicle
C. Blown up by a vehicle
D. Sniped

So please, if you don't mind, share some of your tips for getting to the perfect hiding spot in which you wait, watch, and at the last moment - DETONATE!

The best thing to do is to hide in or under something. In I mean a building all though there are buildings you can go into (annoying!) Or try hiding under something, such as ruble. You could try running like hell to a very distant spot , but able to still see the C4. Artillery? Get inside .

I always found that sticking the C4 to flag poles works well since most people dance around the pole or sit nearby also when its on the flag pole theres a chance it will sink in

I was reading your knifing guide and in it you say that you should pick up an enemy kit so you'll look like them.

As far as I know that isn't true. You get their weapon but you don't get their uniform.

Good post, just thought I'd add my two-penneth.

After the latest round of patches, (depending on the server*), TK'ing from claymores is turned off. Soooo, you can safely lay your mine at the top of ladders to protect your back and not worry about aforesaid Team Kills.
But, this also means you can booby trap alleys, doors, breaks in the fence ect and the only ones who will die are the enemy. Fantastic at Karkand for the 1st US rush :o). Tip: Set it back a bit so they don't see it and you'll get more than one

Now for the naysayers and usual boo boys who flame posts.

1) Some servers have this feature turned OFF and the 1st you know is when you get a team kill and wonder from where.
2) No it's not realistic; in real life a claymore doesn't know who you are. It's a game, get over it.
