If you think EA is so bad, why are you still playing the game? At least they MADE the game, and you can't erase all bugs/glitches, and people with no skill whatsoever ( AKA hackers) will always be around. I will listen to your complaints bluebunny, if you can fix all the coding in BF2, and resolve all issues.

An interesting picture. Ever since patch 1.12 I believe it was, I've experience some odd interactions with objects on the edge of the maximum draw distance (not quite the same as the fog). The object appears somewhat drawn, but not quite drawn. It only occurs at certain angles though, and the fog is still evident, not to mention the object isn't exactly pretty. It's often a fogged and black outline of what's supposed to be there. I have a GeForceFX 5900 Ultra, so eh.

As far as the fog, I've played with the debugger and noticed a small increase in FPS when the fog was pushed beyond the max draw distance. Now, if this hack were to modify the maximum draw distance, we'd have ourselves an interesting hack. Of course, if someone wanted to do that on Karkand, the place looks terrible with no fog and a draw distance of about 2000m, the lightmaps just weren't made for a sunny day. :p

PB screenshots are considered good enough I believe by PB to HW ban someone. Obviously this is not a PB screenie. I'm sure someone will look into it though such as EA or PB where the screenies were sent too.

Not sure about that. I read somewhere that the only way PB hardware bans is if it is proven you messed with Punk Buster...meaning somehow blocking a PB screenshot or something like it.

If PB detects you running a hack you get a PB HW ban and that's not just from BF2 but all games running PB. Server admins can submit a PB screenie to evenbalance.com and if it shows the player using a hack, that is good enough evidence I believe for that player to be HW banned. However we never find out directly. If a PB screenie is continually showing blank it can also been sent to evenbalance for them to investigate. What they do and how they investigate a player is only known by them.

Punkbusted will put a player on their MBL list based on a PB screenie so any servers streaming to the MBL will kick a person in their database when they join.

I am sure i have made my screen look like this a long time ago when bf2 first came out. I had a different video card back then but i am like 90% sure i was able to make my screen look like that. With no hacks. I am trying to reproduce it at the moment but cant seem to figure out how its done. I am thinking he did something like disable fog table emulation or some setting like that.

OK i havent been able to reproduce it but i am sure its not a hack.

Bzzzzzt... wrong. If PB screen shot is taken that means PB was not in any way blocked, and there is no basis for HW ban. HW ban is issued only for real hacks which, for instance, block screenshots, prevent memory scans, etc. They are issued only when there is no doubt about the hack being used. Even Balance is very careful not to issue HW bans without proper grounds for it. If that would not be the case you would see a lot of legitimate users complaining about getting HW banned (because of spyware, rootkits and virii, which can all seem as hacks to PB). In fact, HW bans are almost exclusively reserved for *known* hacks, that have MD5 signatures or very well known structure.

Wrong again. Constant blank screenshots are no grounds for EB investigation. There was an online tournament with $$$ prizes held by Dignitas and the winning team had a nasty cheater in their ranks (was clearly showing odd behaviour on battlerecorder). TheGamer had all blank screenshots during the finals and he claimed he ran the game in windowed mode (apparently then the SSs are not taken). And guess what, even though 100+ people were convinced about him cheating, even though there was money involved and even though there was no screenshots from him - he was not banned, the tournament finals were not repeated and nothing happened to him. Now do you seriosly expect even balance, which is a small company, to investigate every suspicious player? Well, think again. They dont give rats ass about cheats and hacks unless they become public and widespread - when it hurts their rep.

Thats true. And thats a very good thing. If I see a suspicious player I usually check him on PBSS database - most cases the cheater was previously caught. Unfortunately, not every ranked server uses MBLs :-(

i say B.S to the lame hackers "vid card excuse".!! thats so weak

i have a nvidia 5200 geforce (w/c supposedly cant be used 4 BF2..:)) and as someone mentioned it is harder to see in karkland with lower vid card and at no time have i had the fog disappearing on me EVER.

not sure but if he plays (used to play i mean) on west coast servers his name does ring a bell ... vaguely remember a string of games where someone with a handle like his was getting suspicious kills. .... funny how even his OWN TEAMATES WERE TELLING HIM TO STOP HACKING

I know people from all over the world cheat in game, but for some reason Germany has more than its share. I also play Guild Wars and it seems that when it comes to racism, the Germans hold the lead there too...

A couple of points to make here:

Punkbuster is anti-cheat software made by Evenbalance.

PunksBusted is an organisation run by server admins which operates the AMBL and streaming.

If the no-fog cheat raised a Punkbuster violation, then a client kick command would be issued and depending on the violation, the client could then be subject to a GUID ban.

If a Punkbuster screenshot (not a screenshot) of this was taken and submitted to PunksBusted then he would be subject to an admin vote and if succesfull added to the AMBL, which would see him banned of all PsB streaming servers. I re-iterate, 'if' the vote was succesfull.

The server admin of this server is, obviously, entitled to locally ban the player, no accent required.

It is a dumb screenshot to submit, and would certainly bring him to the attention of other server admins.

Newsflash... EA doesn't give two sh!ts about stats or any of this cheating stuff. If they did care, their software would actually be designed to prevent these kinds of antics, all of which have been going on for months, and which are common knowledge among any experienced players.

What EA does care about, is this: getting 50,000 people playing online at once, selling two million copies of the game, and up-selling us on EuroForce and whatever other supplemental content they can push.

What they don't care about, is this: fixing their full-of-holes code. By their lack of action to fix even their own well-known mapping & wall errors, not to mention failing to take any action at all against the more common hack packages like the chameleon-enemy-color deal, and this no fog garbage, EA is telling all legit gamers to "go get stuffed".

Their efforts are focused on creating new games (BF2142 comes to mind), and they couldn't care less about seriously trying to fix what's already in the field, or help ensure that those who cheat actually pay a penalty.

nope you can get a pb hwb for hackin or cheatin its mainly down to them guys to deside my work friend got a hwb just because he didnt up date pb to a newer verson an pb picked it up that it was different.
but the hwb is easy to get around.

the best way of findin a cheat in your server would be to follow some people an watch how there rifles react in game.
just a tip here for as ive tryed an tested the same cheat(only because im an admin in are server plus when the hack was tested it was a locked server with just are clan in)
just keep a look out for a twiching gun the cross hair is always on the move lockin an lookin for the enemy then all they have to do is fire an your dead.also when you get killed change veiw till you see the guy you think is hackin an watch how he plays the game,
