godly battlefield 2

Wow bf2 is a godly game that brings graphics cards down to its knees. I recently got a XFX 7900 GTX clocked at 675/1700. My 3dmark05 went from 7860 to 10360. Also in CS:S, stress test went from 150 to 165. But in bf2 i see no gain WTF?

Peformance is still the same as my 7800 GTX 256mb in bf2 especially in bf2:SF. Wow this card clocked at 675/1700 with 512mb still gets raped by bf2? Just wow. Either my pc is ****ty or bf2 is just horribly unoptimized.

i dont understand anything about graphics cards or computer hardware for that matter. all i know is that i have a Something 5500 and my graphics in bf2 are crap everything low except effects and geometery, which are medium altohught i have perfectly smooth gameplay after i bough 1 gig of ram about 2 weeks ago

I have a 5200 so don't complain, runs well with 1 gig of RAM, but the dog crap in the back yard looks better

7900gtx

Well, the 7900GTX is just a newer and more efficient model of the 7800GTX. Yeah the 7900GTX clocks at 650/1600 (stock) and the 7800GTX 512 Mb clocks at 550/1700, but all the features are the same. Nvidia was just able to reduce the core size and revamp the cards to do the same work with less transistors and therefore reduce the cost of the cards.

I currently have a 6800 PCIe (hey it came with the Dell my wife bought me, wish it came from Alienware....), so I plan on upgrading to the 7900 model. That would be a much larger jump in performance than your upgrade.

If you don't want the card, I can free up my video slot real fast. :)

i returned the defective 7900 GTX card due to artifacting and now have a x1900xtx in my hands. I will post my thoughts about the new card later. If you want a 7800 gtx 256mb, I put mine on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MESE%3AIT&rd=1

well i just tried the x1900xtx yesterday. Got 3dmark05 of 10650. CS:S also increased 15fps. But in bf2, i see no fps gain. Awesome! Actually, i think the performance is a little worse than my 7800 gtx 256mb. Framerate is similar but it is worse in that i get some stutters and slight choppiness in warlord and other maps. I honestly thought the 1900xtx would be a monster in bf2 but no. But cs:s peformance has increased oddly. Im returning this 1900xtx today because i see no diff in bf2. Only gain i saw was in 3dmark and CS:S but who cares because bf2 is the only game i care about. Yeah i get sky high fps in a bot match with 16 bots but on a 64 player server fps goes bye bye

Well DICE has done it agin with their awesome programing.

Also to those of you who claim that their fps never goes below 60 at high res, high settings,etc I honestly say BS! If your fps is so high post some pics during an intense battle in the palace of warlord or irongator on a 64 player server.

anything above a 7800GT won't make a lick of difference in the game. The latest patch broke the game for good, and it seems Dice has no intention of fixing it. This is the kind of crap that makes game companies go out of business.

Dude. You've eaten $1500 in graphics cards during the course of this thread. Dr. Phil says: What do you want from your computer? Is your 'puter compensating for something missing in your life? Why do you let three more frames per second dictate your happiness?

Edit 2: I just wanted to add that I think you're a super ok person, even if you only get 50 fps in BF2. Go you, you rule!
