Why do i always have a bad ping? please help

Well I have high speed internet , ati9800 pro , 3.0ghz porcessor , but my ping is alwyas like 200 or so , I dont understand , my ping in other games is fine , but just bf2 its very laggy all the time. any ideas how i can fix this?

might be issues with the servers you're connecting with.. is this a recent problem?

Ping also has to do with location relative to the server. Are you from some remote island in the middle of the pacific or something?

No , im from Canada , when i select a server to play in i choose one with a low ping , though i cant find much low ping servers .

I just got bf2 and i wanna enjoy it

Ya, I bet you don't have very many servers to choose from....

Once you have the latest patch you should see a drastic increase in servers, say from 20-30 that you have now to over 500, (or at least over 300).

its recent for me. i once had low pings and now they are high. im all patched too. but once pings of 68-100 now ranger from 180-250 no spyware either

You must remember that the BF2 in-game browser misreports what the pings really are. You might see a high ping in the browser but when you join that server you will see your real ping.

what ISP you use in Canada.
I switched over from Roger's to Bell DSL and things are so much better right now.

You can try and do a spyware scan too

yeah i use bell DSL also , i dled the patch its better now , i want to do a spyware scan also coz its still kinda slow

Just make sure you have the most recent patch, and then don't pick too many filters. Just picked ranked, voice (if those matter) - and don't pick map size. Only pick like 3 or 4 things - then check out your server listing.

You should see a ton (depending on how many canada servers there are). I know we have canadians playing on our server all the time (server is in VA) with pings around 50 or so.
