i just made sergeant today and when the unlocks came on they werent on the list... unlocked the g36c though

You do not need to have Special Forces to unlock those weapons, but you will be unable to unlock them through Battlefield 2.

If you could get a friend who has the expansion to log in through your account, he would be able to unlock the tier 2 guns for you, and you would be able to use them in normal BF2.

When you first switch to Special Forces, you get 1 extra unlock for each rank you have past (and including) Sergeant. For example, a Gunnery Sergeant would get 3 more unlocks thanks to Special Forces, and a First Sergeant would get 4 unlocks. Corporal and below would get 0 extra unlocks.

The Tactical Gamer server (unranked) is running with all the weapons unlocked, including SF weapons. Its a fantastic place to play anyway (especially if you're into real teamwork, like BF2 is supposed to be played!), but having access to all the weapons really helps when deciding your next unlock!
