    Re: Intoxicated players

    If im playing BF2 ... im stoned, if it is dark outside im drunk as well.

    Playing whilst high/****ed is like training for football with a really small ball, when you are straight it seems soo much easier :P

    sorry but i won't buy into this decadent mindset so easily... intoxicants are harmful substances not only psychologially but also play a large role in societal moral decadence i will go as far as saying anyone advocating the use of intoxicants has lost their sense of individual thinking and become a mindless drug addict you have been possessed by the devil himself not even jesus can save you now
    did u miss a lol at the end of the post??

      Re: Intoxicated players

      I have played intoxicated... but by accident. I am actually in the Air National Guard and I cannot "smoke" due to random drug testing.:cry:
      I have a a few beers while playing but only seem to sip at them when I am waiting to spawn in after a death- so I don't get too drunk to function.

      However, a few times this month I have had some trouble sleeping. I often play BF2 at night before bed-perhaps there inlines the trouble?? :p Anyway, I have nome ambein (for those that don't know- a sleeping pill) and took that a few times. It doesn't work right away so I head to the computer. After a round or two, I feel the effects.
      OMG! I just had an idea I HAVE TO use battelfield recorder when I am loopy on sleeping pills then evaluate my performance the next day...since I don't remember how I do anyways.

      Heh

                Oooooooookkkkkk, Mr. Swaggart. Glad you had the chance to proselytize a bit and chide us for our moral failings. Given your username, your little sermon rings a bit hollow, though.

                <begin pedantic rambling>

                A) Many of the folks here are just messing around and don't actually consume in the mass quantities they claim. It's a time-honored "guy thing", a playful game of oneupsmanship.

                B) If you take everything the government and church tells you about certain controlled substances at face value, you might have a point. On the other hand, if you take the time to find out that a lot of what we are told about such things is exaggeration and scare tactics, you can take a more informed, adult attitude. Pot is as bad and dangerous as crack or crystal meth? That's illogic incarnate. Pot is far less dangerous and causes far less physical and societal harm than the legal drug alcohol. Yet when kids (and I'm 40, so I can use the term "kids" pretty broadly) find out (as many will) that they've been deceived about pot, some will assume that the info they've been fed about other substances are incorrect as well. That creates a perilous situation; young people making the assumption that heroin or meth are less harmful than they truly are and using them. Those things (and other very hazardous substances) are rightly reviled; they can lead to profound physical addiction and severely distort lives. If they just told us the truth, they'd decrease that peril greatly.

                C) Man invented alcohol and all the synthetic drugs; God invented marijuana. Who do you trust?

                D) To paraphrase the great Bill Hicks: "If you don't thinks drugs have done some good things for us then I want you to do me a favor. Go home and take all your music, your records and tapes and CDs, and burn them. Because you know all those musicians who've made all that wonderful music that's enhanced ours lives throughout the years? Reeeeeaaaaaaalllllllll f*cking high on drugs, man."

                E) I find it slightly hypocritical that you're preaching about the societal and spritual evils of drugs when you play a game that glorifies war and killing and death. In the history of the world, few things have done more harm than war. Mass systematic murder, cultures pitted against one another in savage conflict, the lower classes of society fed into the meat grinder to satisfy the egos and policies of the ruling class. War is inarguably the worst thing humanity does to itself. It's terrible and brutal and all too often unneccesary.

                That's why "Saving Private Ryan" is such a brilliant film; it unflinchingly shows the horror and senseless slaughter of war without the fuzzy soft filter of myth and sentimentality.

                And this is coming from a US Army veteran (armored cavalry scout, airborne ... HOOrah!).

                On the other hand, I play the game because it's hellaciously fun. I'd much rather have people engaging in virtual battles than in real ones, in simulated and sanitized bloodshed than in the actual spilling of blood. Perhaps games like this are an outlet, a pressure release valve for the aggressiveness and thirst for domination we all have within us. I know that after playing BF2, I don't want to go out kill anyone (except for those damned freaks who eat their french fries with mayo ... that's just perverted and wrong and they must all die).

                </end pedantic rambling>

                The upshot is, live your life how you see fit, and let others live do likewise as long as it doesn't harm you.

                PS: Not too shabby for a mindless, drug-addled, demon-possessed zombie, eh?

                    Re: Intoxicated players

                    forget about them Super Six Three, I was playing Doom 2 at an early age, it was very violent for the time, didn't do me any harm

                    it's cool to see a mix of younger and older people playing these games, i don't believe in all this games have a bad influence cr*p. if a kids right in the head then no game is going to mess him up.

                    anyway going slightly off topic now :? age restrictions for games are a waste of time

                                Hehehe. I was stationed in Germany for a few years in the mid-80s and saw way too many people eating mayo on their pommes frites (fries). It made my gorge rise every time. I almost broke up with a cute little mädchen who used to eat them like that when we went out. Not only did it gross me out while she was doing it, but when we kissed later I'd taste a faint trace of that unholy spud/mayo combo in her mouth. Ick! I eventually just quit taking her to places that served fries; problem solved.

                                By the way, Amsterdam is one of my favorite cities in Europe. It's very picturesque (I'm an artist, so I did a lot of watercolor sketches along the canals) and the people are so cool. Practically everyone speaks either English or German; I never had any problems communicating with people in A-Dam.

                                And I used to love the little herring brudgies (sp?) that the guys sell from carts on the street.

                                Damn. Now I'm hungry.
