    SRAW "Top Attack"

I've been finding it extremely useful to aim far above armored vehicles and infantry when launching my SRAWs, then angling them down into the target once the missile gets out there a ways.

This allows you to hit the thinner top armor of an MBT when it's presenting it's front aspect to you (in other words, when it's facing you), and also allows you to catch infantry in the SRAW's blast radius more effectively because you'll over/undershoot less if you have the missile coming down at the point on the ground, vs. flying almost flat.

Anyone else do this? I got the idea from the HL1/2 rocket launchers, and after watching some Javelin films with it coming in almost vertical in some cases. Very cool to watch.

Sounds cool. I'll give it a shot next time I'm in-game.

Just remeber not to aim at the person but at the ground right in front of them. Sometimes when i see the missile coming at me i just go prone and let it pass over me or bunny hop over it.

Yes, it is difficult, and timing is critical in order to get the missile to angle down at the right moment so as not to over/undershoot your target. Once you get it down, you can clobber people, even if they're behind cover. :)

It also doesn't sound an alarm untill the rocket is almost there

About how much damage does it do to the tank? Is this worth the trouble if there isn't a gunner on top.

I've tried a number of things and so far i've found shooting the tread on a tank (the actual tread, not the wheels) as the most effective. kills in two hits most times.

this will(could) also disorient the hit detection, giving the driver a false location of the enemy.

I've actually been employing this tactic for a while now as long as they're not too close. I face the vehicle, aim almost straight up, then come down on top of the target. I wonder what it looks like if you're standing outside the tank... or exactly what does happen with hit detection. Someone want to make a movie?

I read the first couple of lines, then decided to comment on that. Is that a problem?
