Joystick for Piloting?

Probably a n00b question but...

Can I use a joystick to pilot an aircraft but then switch back to "WASD" and mouse when I get back out? Well basically just can I use a joystick cause I just got this pimp forcefeed joystick that vibrates when your warming up the engine and stuff. It has a fan built in to keep your hands dry and has a seperate throttle thing by the side. I love using it and in F/A 18 Strike fighter I get like 1,000 downed every game. Well yeah thats my question.

i jsut got a cheap 25$ 1 is a saitek st290PRO its ok i geuss but i jsut cant turn as sharp as every1 else

lol i was gonna get one of those the other day! but i didnt, think i will though. anybody else have any suggestions on a good joystick?

the Saitek Cyborg Evo leads the charge when it comes to BF2 in my opinion..

I hate the throttle on that thing..plus I couldn't reach half of the buttons due to the ambidextrous design. I returned mine to the store.

I wouldn't recommend you buy what I have though (even IF you could find it) as it has been discontinued

I agree, the buttons can be a little awkward.. you'll notice I don't own a Cyborg either because it isn't a traditional stick and pretty much sucks for hardcore flight sim guys like me (which is why I got the x45), but BF2 is arcade style when it comes to flying and that changes alot of rules.

I think the throttle is in a good, quick and responsive position on the Cyborg and that it gives the controller an edge over other similar joysticks (again, only with regards to BF2). The finger travel and effort it takes to move the throttle make it great for dogfighting in this particular game.

Saitek J24C X45 Flight Control Joystick for me!


It ownzorz and I love the freestanding throttle the only problem is that it didnt stick to the desk. Now most people would just go out and buy a sticky pad or seomthing BUT NO! I'm going 2 ikea tomorrow and redoing my entire room. I really dont wanna take down my LCD wall but I'll have 2.

Yes it is interchangable...I switch back and forth all the time depending on how precise I want to be
