i know. but it could very easily be based off of one...

if you accidentaly killed a friendly tank, how would you feel? And im sure it has happened.

In real life, like it happens in that movie, It can't happen well that is M1A1 to M1A1, because they have built in transponders and use GPS systems and the Computer on the tank will warn you if you are aiming on a friendly tank

transponder could have failed, the constant shaking of the tank moving could have wiggled a solder joint loose.
things go wrong. we can only help prevent it from happening.

the titanic was designed to float even with a gaping hole in its hull, but there are unacounted factors that made it sink. The ship would have stayed afloat, but the steel was not strong enought to handle the stress of only one side of the ship holding up all the weight, and it failed and sank.

A dam near where i used to live was built so precautiosly that it could not break. they thought of every possible thing that could go wrong. but they did not think of what type and how strong the friction was between the gravel/sand mixture was and the dam broke... (was not upstream of a city, luckily, was before i was born, and was not a big dam)

There are always unaccounted factors, and there always will be. Stuff happens, nothing you can do about it.
