BlackHawk Dedicated Squad - Tip for good BH pilots

I did this last week and it was the most fun, rewarding game of BF2 I've had to date. I forget which map it was, but it was a large map with two available BH's and lots of Iraqi flags to take.

I formed my own squad (this making me the leader) and titled it 'Blackhawk.' I then hopped in the BH readied it for take off. I then when into team chat and said,

"Hey everyone, I'm forming a dedicated BH squad, so if you want to join and be a gunner or just get lots of cap points please join my squad. It's called 'BlackHawk.'

    I went on to say...

"I'm a good pilot and will fly the BH all map." If this is something you're interested in please join my squad ideally as an engineer."

With that long post, I then took off in my BH and began flying off to cap flags. Well before long, I had a squad of 6 guys contantly spawning in my BH, repairing in flight and we capped tons of flags, often turning it from MEC to US in a matter of seconds.

I used this method for several maps, and everybody on my squad got top scores and it was very effecitive. VOIP was active during the game and even though none of my squad mates had mics, I did, and they could hear me. So I let them know what flag I was heading for, which side I'd do an orbit on (so they could fire down on it) then came down to cap after one circle around.

Seriously, this worked really, really well, we all got lots of points and it was really fun.

The only catch here is you have to be a good BH pilot, because if you're constantly crashing your squad will leave.

    Just thought I'd mention this!

It's how I'm going to play BF2 going forward now on BH maps.

Problem with this... There weren't any good pilots on the other team or you would have been dead after the first cap.

Once in awhile you get lucky and nobody wants to fly against you but I would not take ths tatic as gospel.

Nice Idea though. Sounds like you had fun:)

When you play against a team that has a dedicated Anti-Blackhawk squad then you'll have a much harder time. There are several threads already that discuss how to take down a Blackhawk.

I was just in a game where we were MEC and we took down their Blackhawk at least 5 or 6 times the entire round. We still lost, but it was only by like 20.

Communicating with your team is essential to a Blackhawk's survival. I hate having some random person with their own agenda in a blackhawk with me. At least your teammates were cooperative it seems. Always good to have feedback from the team though.

As for anti-blackhawk, that's fun too. Loads of points. ^^ I think the most fun time I had dedicating a round to anti-blackhawk causes was on Dalian Oilfields or whatever. Was on the Chinese team, so I just got in the Su-34. Once I was able to down the Blackhawk once, all I had to do was wait about a minute and then dive out of the air onto the helipad. Everyone was loading the Blackhawk so I got all of those points before they even got off the ground. I repeated this 2 or 3 more times, just flew back, reloaded, and went straight back for their Blackhawk spawn, and sure enough there they were. Eventually I only got a kill or two so I think they caught on.

Yes, even though I played on several maps with this method, over a period of an hour and a half we weren't seriously challenged from the air. Also too, I flew very cautiously. Always came in very low, skirting near the ourside of the map, etc. There is a lot you can do as a BH pilot to minimize your exposure to jets and enemy choppers. We still got shot down, but in the end we won.

So you decided that you were "the" pilot for your entire team? Does anyone else get a chance to fly or do you TK them or something? Because that's what it sounds like.
