Well, I've heard from many people that memtest86 is a good diagnostic, but I also ran Prime95, so that's pretty much covered. In addition, CS:S, another graphics-intensive game, runs fine, so I feel like it has to be BF2-related.

Is anybody else experiencing this in-game freezing/lockup?

For Prime95, have you run the torture test which can be found under options? Running the Blend torture test seems to be the norm.

when it locks up what are u doing just standing around or being shot at?? and whats ur Frame rate

Sometimes I'm running around, sometimes I'm standing, one time I was just standing there and it froze when I got caught in artillery. It varies. My frame rates is around 50-60.

I have run the appropriate Prime95 tests for hours on end.

Sounds like something is overheating to me.

BTW, what PSU do you have? If it is a generic one, I would recommend buying a good quality one.

WOW, no.

2.5x your physical ram TOPS. Thus 1024*2.5=2560

Also, your onboard sound, yah it sucks, turn the sound quality down.

Remember not every issue you encounter is your graphics card or memory, like far too many people seem to think it is.

I have a good sized page file, I have my sound quality on medium with Hardware.

If it was overheating, the problem would manifest in other games or stress tests. It's not overheating, and I don't need more RAM. It's a BF2 problem.

I'm having the exact same problem, Airrob. This game hard locks my PC, sometimes after 15 minutes or so, sometimes after a few maps. The sound gets stuck in a loop and using the reset button is the only way to get out.

I very much doubt it has anything to do with faulty hardware on my side, since I don't have problems in other games and I've tried running the Prime95 torture test for over 12 hours without any errors.

My config: A64 3000+, MSI Neo Platinum 2 w/ onboard sound, 1 GB Kingston PC3200, Leadtek 6600GT, Enermax 470 Watt PSU, nothing is overclocked and CPU temps don't go over 45 C or so.

I'm thinking this is a Punkbuster issue with Nvidia chipsets, check this thread.

Every map I get about ten seconds complete lock, it even locks teamspeak. tried opening ports in my router and firewall, disabling counterspy and pc cillin, still get the big lock.

I have the excact same problem, only that my sound doesnt loop, it just stops. Somebody PLEASE help this guy!

I seem to have fixed this problem!

I installed the 5.10 drivers for my nForce3 mobo from Nvidia.com. I then installed the 6.66 drivers for the AMD nForce4 (which I was told was ok to do even on an nForce3 mobo), and everything seems to work! I played 2 hours today with no problems. Try this - it won't harm your mobo.
