As nice as a BF2143 would be, I just can't see it happening unless it's some form of shovelware. And if there isn't any enthusiasm about it amongst us, then chances are it won't happen either.
I really enjoy 2142, and would definitely like to see a sequel, but doubt it will happen.
BF2142 is sort of an "add-on" game (in lack of a better word) for BF2, it runs on the same engine, with just a few updates and new skins.
This is the same as BF:Vietnam, who was an "add-on" for BF1942.
Seeing as both add-on games are/were way less popular than their originals, it doesn't make sense to produce a sequel to those games.
Perhaps the add-on for BF3 will be something like BF2143? I don't know...
We are the people, we want a sequel to this, doubt won't help us. Just like how lots of people doubted there was going to be a bf3, but then regained hope and started yelling for it, and now its in progress. Encourage them to make a bf2142, DO NOT DOUBT IT!
wow talk about a huge pack of negative people in here..lol why even post? seriously.
Honestly ive been a fan of the BF franchise for a long time, and BF2142 is still an amazing game that is practically impossible to topple amongst its true fans. I have played so many damn games after its release and nothing keeps me coming back like 2142 does.. its modern, theres just so much to do in Titan mode you could never get sick of it, from podding to hover jets to mechs you name it its just a lot to vary it with.. its so much that people have gotten stuck playing Suez canal for years and never get sick of the same map over and over.
I think that warrants at least some attention as the formula works.
I for one would love an updated version with the new engine and I'm definitely looking forward to BF3 as im so damn tired of WWII approach, even though I confess, ill definitely be picking up 1943..lol but well see
GMT wise 2142 is only playable between 6pm and 11pm for me. This gap has the biggest variety of maps being fielded, the other times are simply Camp G or Suez Canal... dead boring.
Conveniently Orange, being the low life money leeching scum that they are, have capped on-line gaming between 6 and 11pm meaning I have to scavenge for a decent map server before and after that period... nearly impossible.
So 2142 is nearly dead in my opinion, bring on 2143 without any Camp G or Suez remakes!!!!
*Votes for a BF:V sequel just to see Field punch a baby in the face*
field boys new tshirt :)
and now back to our regularly scheduled programming......
let's get real. we can't even get EA to drop the 1.51 patch, much less bf3. i would most certainly play bf2143, but i won't be holding my breath. i still get great enjoyment out of 2142, but will switch to bf3 when it comes out. actually, i had about the same feeling as field when i saw the 1943 trailer. wake island. again. ****I**** wanted to punch a baby in the face. i was so blinded w/ fury that they would not only go backwards (in time) on development, but also insult us w/ yet ANOTHER wake island map. i pretty much didn't even get through the trailer or read another article on the game. i'm usually a pretty open minded person, but it did piss me off. then the wake island thing was just the straw that broke the camels back. so anything modern or futuristic has my backing.
I never did understand what made Wake so epic. Probably has something to do with the BF1942 demo which I never played, but the BF2 version was horrible. I actually enjoy the BF2142 version quite a bit, though, it's just not run very often.
I really dislike how they always go back to WWII, I mean, WWII is over, it's gone, they should think ahead now. The reason EA made 2142 was because they wanted to make something different, now, they need to continue this to a sequel, because I can see a good storyline to it. And messfeeder, If you think a few people on a messageboard can't change anything, your wrong, a few people on a message board one time uploaded Wake Island, and now its everywhere. But i like the fact how they didn't make it those casual realistic games by adding lasers and such, I like how they made it "different". Now, I still have a lot of playing to do before i'm completley done, I can only imagine bf2142's next sequel of how AMAZING it will look with the frostbyte engine :salute:.
Wake Island is a boring, overdone map in the BF series. That's why nobody plays it on 2142 much. As much as I like 2142 (it is the one game I have put the most time into ever) I really don't see a continuation of it. It's time to move on.
If you think a few people on a messageboard can't change anything, your wrong, a few people on a message board one time uploaded Wake Island, and now its everywhere.
Correction. A few people posting on a messageboard achieved nothing (as usual). What happened was that "a few people" vent and ported the map themselves.
BF2142 was superior to all other BF games, but the majority of the BF community said "ew, sci-fi and laser" without as much as trying it.
I think EA learned something from that.
