    DiCE still has something....

Now, I am not saying that I have inside information, but DiCE is not going to screw up this bad by releasing a 24 only game or try to win us back with BC2. BF3 is still out there.

If you think about it, BF:V was nothing but a reskinned version of BF1942. BF2142 was nothing more then a reskinned version of BF2. BF1943 is nothing more then a reskin of their current title. They have been playing this game cycling thing for the last decade. They are working on something in the background that is going to be cutting edge. Think about how Mirror's Edge was something special. That was going on while we were all b!tching about BF2142 and BF:BC.

1943 did not take a huge effort from DiCE to create. So, I think everyone should take a deep breath and say "OK, the PC market will see something someday." <---that is unless some other gaming company makes something so good that people that have been burned by DiCE in the past will move to a better product that captures the communities love.

If they are, it won't be here until at least 2011 so I can't muster up enough effort to really care D:

I hope you're right. If this is all they have to offer, though, then Blizzard will be getting my gaming money this year, not EA/DICE. At least with SC2 and D3 (which won't be out until at least next year, I'm sure) they've shown that they can make a true sequel to their games without dropping trou and dumping all over them.

Imagine if, instead of what was revealed, Blizzard announced 'the next game in the Diablo franchise', and instead of it being what D3 is, it would be a side-scrolling platformer game with only two character classes (both of which can do melee and ranged attacks and spells), only two acts, and the bosses drop the highest-end gear every time you fought them. The amount of nerd rage unleashed upon the gaming world would be biblical.

Same. I haven't seen anything forthcoming from EA for the BF franchise that is catching my interest in the slightest and that's unfortunate since BF2 has held the record as my most-played game, ever.

I think Blizzard is going to get my business come SC2 release.

Yeah, I find that it is products on Steam that are getting my business now. Valve has my attention and I'm sure that Blizzard will get it soon.

even if there is another project going on, i don't know if i would be too happy about it. in fact, it would scare me that the devs that couldn't even fix up 2142 and 2 right is taking on so many projects at once. BF:H, BC2, BF1943, as well as supporting current games on the market, it makes me wonder how they can get one thing right? i mean it has been incredibly difficult trying to get them to address problems with 2142, some present since day 1 and not yet fixed....

Battlefield 2142 was totally new game with a reused engine.

                Battlefield 2142 was no clone.

Just play Battlefield 2 and 2142 at the same time.

TOTALLY DIFFERENT FEELS. 2 feels like a run-gun counterstrike, while 2142 feels like a futuristic shooter(ACUTALLY ORGINAL NOT DERITATIVE LIKE BATTLEFIELD 2)

In Battlefield 2, I can't walk for two feet before being bombed(that doesn't even happen in real-life)

In Battlefield 2142, I can feel my pulse accelerating when a walker comes prowling around that corner.

Battlefield 2142>>>>>>>>Battlefield 2(Still a good game compared to that even more Run and gun Call of duty 4)

I'm not comparing the to games...I am saying one is just a rehash of the other so they have got to be working on a new engine.

Anyways it's crazy to hear people complaining on how bad Battlefield 2142 was in the past. The game was actually a battlefield game that wasn't released on consoles or any of that arcadish glut.

Now they are complaining about Battlefield 1943.

                    People can be harsh critics.

I was heavy into the original CS and CSS.. that and the HL series are the extent of my Steam experience.

Unfortunately, I missed the boat with 1942 and BF2 was my first (and looks to be only) taste of BF as a whole. I thought COD4 was going knock BF2 out of the water, but we all know how that turned out.

No mater what they do someone will cry. everyone thinks they should cater to them and if they don't it fails.

it's the people who complained and didn't support 2142 that could've contributed to the end of hardcore BF titles on PC. they decided to keep playing BF2, dice probably feels whatever they do now can't live up to it as 2142 didn't have half the success of BF2.

I never bought 2142 as bf2 satisfied my battlefield experience quite nicely,I saw no need to go out and buy a $50 game when I was already having tons of fun.

Maybe that's the plan, then; to release small, expansion-pack-sized games for $20 and sell them every 3-6 months. They'll get more money from the average player than someone who bought one game for $50 plays it for 4 years without buying anything else.

The fly in that ointment, however, is that anyone with their head on straight who actually wants a BF game won't spend ANY money on that rubbish. $50 every four years is still $50, but $0 three times a year is still $0.
