Logs in with someone else's profile

Yesterday I installed the beta and registered my own username, then played the game for a while. However today I went to play and my name was BEERxWALES, all my controls and graphics settings were different, I was on a different rank and I could even access his friends list - it seems that the game was logged in to someone else's profile. I had to go to Change Profile to get back to my own.

I have no idea who BEERxWALES is and there's certainly no other CODWW player on this PC, so could this be down to him being given the same CD key as I was? Are player profiles even matched to CD keys? I don't remember typing in a password to access my profile, could this be it?

Has anyone else had this problem?

Player profiles are matched to CD keys, yes.

It sounds like either duplicate keys were handed out, or someone managed to steal your key somehow when you were on a server, and are now using it themselves. Your problem is rare, but I've seen a couple people with it.

You can always create a new email address (Hotmail, Yahoo, etc), then re-register at callofduty.com with a new acct to get a new key code. You'll be starting over, but you won't have this problem again. Be sure to check for the verification email/link before you actually log on using the new cod.com acct, or you may not receive your key.
