The whole DRM thing and conspiracy to kill PC gaming

I just read some interesting post on Tom's Hardware:

    demonhord665:
hoenstly i think , the DRM thing is a scandel pepentrated by the companies that are in sony's bed, I haven't noticed any publishers/ developers that are part of the pc gaming alliance using any of this DRM crap , only companies that have close ties to Sony and console game sales. Call me fruit loopy , but i think sony and these companies are relaly otu to end PC gaming for one reason .. console pricing. Every generation the consoles prices raise about 100-150 bucks at launch. This last generartion saw prices of 400-500 (xbox 360) and 600- 700 (ps3), my current PC gaming system (that i built myself) only ran me about 80 dollars more than the more expensive ps 3 (my pc only cost me 789 dollars and taht's after shipping and it can run any game these consoles can) . next generation i can very easily see a PS4 and xbox 3 going for 800 - 1100 US dollars. in short i think the DRM is a scheme by these companies , to take the steam outta of the fact that next gen consoles will cost no cheaper than a good PC gaming machine. really consider who woudl pay 1000+ dollars for a console if their 1000 dollar PC could game just as easy. further more i think this DRM is a knock at the PC gaming industry on a whiole for the simple fact you don't see this **** on ANY console games , given that cosole games can be cracked by a hacker jsut as easy as a pc game (see torrents for GTA 4 for both the 360 adn the ps3), its seems that these companies would also want this on thier console games ???? add to the fact , the software would be suited more to a non changing hard ware platform like a console ! so again i think this DRM is mainly targeted to pc games , because these companies know next gen consoles wont have the price advantage above gaming pcs, Thier whole purpose is to turn people off of pc games , that's why they don't give a **** who and how many people protest this !

I'm already boycotting spore , though i pissed off as i already managed to get two games that had Se-crap-om, one was even a digital down load ?????? WTF it pissed me off greatly thoguh i managed to get the retailer to give me an unlock code that disables secureom on the game. the other game was a freaking DEMO , why teh hell the demo ahd se-crap-om on it i have no idea, it makes no sense at all that is why i cam to the conclusion that this DRM is made jsut to get peoepl ahting PC gaming , so they will continue to buy overpriced consoles (and please spare me the crap about consoles and razors i'm sick of hearing it, razor companies dont sell razors at a loss ( i mean really you can buy a bag of disposables for 1 dollar), they just jack up the blades price, same case with consoles, they really arn't sold at a loss they just exagerate the R & D cost so they can say they are taking a loss, same as the goverment coming up with the ridiculous spending figures they do to cover up just what they really are spending money on (it was proven they were exagerated nasa's budget just to hide all the money that was going into developing the stealth fighters back in the 60's)

any way that's my piece , really consider this EA is really in deep with sony and has always been , so yeah of course they are using a DRM developed by sony who is only one of the largest benefactors should pc gaming die (securom). also note the ps2 was and now the ps3 is advertised as a "computer" gaming system. seriously look at thier advertisments and you wil see that tag line.

I dont like this type of security either. I got Mass Effect recently on PC i enjoyed it a lot! then it started bugging on me, and i went to the forums got the patch still bugging. I opened my game once again, it gave me an error for an online activation of the game. (seems that the game requires the internet to function) then i went to the Mass Effect forums and it says if i ran the game offline, it will be blocked and i will have to reactivate it :s

all they are doing is making more people pirate their games with their crap so they can lose all the money they want until it gets through their thick skulls

Securerom is fine though when it works and is invisible, it was included with Crysis I believe

it only gets annoying when they force the whole online activation crap, its not a problem with Steam because that system works and they have a fair system at that

but as the Bioshock release showed Securerom activation is terrible

Thats what gripes me also. I understand registering the game or creating an account. OK, Fine! But then tell me I can only install it X amount of times? Thats just BS.

Im a hardcore PC mechanic and a gamer. Im going to mess up my system MANY times. I dont need to go through this bull on legal stuff.
