i found the problem.... Trymedia systems was in my registry... deleated,uninstalled.... patched up lets play!

Sorry dude, I feel bad. But that's probably your only options. When your a pc gamer you have to be a little tech savy. Just look through a bunch of the threads here. There's always issues to deal with. For me, my processor's not supported. It took a couple google searches, and changing a file name. Maybe someone else here can explain it better than I can. Good luck man, I hope you can get this resolved.

i have never reformated my comp for a game,nor will i. i have lots and lots of pics and vids on my comp that i dont wanna lose and i dont have an external drive. also im not all that tech savy. like i biult the rig i have now yes, but i did not do any of the programing(OS, Bios, etc.) ill probably kill my comp trying to reformat =(. and mr big your suggestion is the last 1 i try before i super glue this CD to my fan =).



1 last thing. i dont have a profiles folder in my program files. i tried all three paths and no go. and when i look up profiles in my program files it just brings up my other games. good grief man i know i dont know about comps but this is just hurting my feelings now lol.

You can still save your profile folder somewhere else on your hard drive, then copy it back after you reinstall. You can keep it at 1.0, but there's many more 1.6 servers, more maps, plus fixes. Try what I suggested, it should work. FYI, and no offense, but I would have reinstalled my OS by now.

i dont know if i menttioned this earlier but ya when i uninstall the game and reboot my comp i place the CD back in the drive to autorun. well when i do this it gives me the uninstall option instead of the install option which proves there is a little spec of COD in my system. and the worst part is that i went up to rank 34 already man. now i gotta start all over right? oh and why is it there are so many servers up on the 1.0 patch?

Download and install CCleaner. Uninstall COD4. Delete COD4 folder. c/program files/activision/call of duty 4-modern warfare (or wherever it is on vista). delete the profile folder, C:\Users\YourVistaAccountName\AppData\Local\Virtua lStore\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare. Open CCleaner, click the registry tag, click scan for issues, click fix selected issues. This should get rid of all references to cod4. Reinstall the game.

I haven't tried this with cod4, but I've tried it with other programs that wouldn't completely go away.

There has to be a way to manually uninstall the game.

I would try the reg cleaner and a search on Google to manually uninstall that version of CoD4.

i contacted them 5 times and they give me no love. the only email they sent out is the 1 saying we cancled your account.

try a good reg cleaner. ccleaner has a good one. check every folder you most still have something left over.

Did you try asking the place where you downloaded the game. They should be able to tell you where every thing is.

You could back up your files on an external hdd and then reformat? :p

ok used my lunch break to download this file and still no go. is there anyway to deleate everything on my system except for the OS and my files?

Be sure the 1.6 patch you are using now is for the bought version and not the DL version.

ok to the guy above me yea i have done everything you said my good sir. and now i went to download the patch straight from the people i bought the DL version and they say there is no COD4 installed so i go to try again with the patch i downloaded and it gives the same error message. i am seriously wanting to destroy this bloody comp now. all this game has done is create frustration for me. i will not reformat my comp for this game and it is honestly killing me right now lolz.
