Punk buster problem

hi all, I started playing cod4 again since 1.6 but I have a problem, every time I try and play on a server with Punk buster I lag real bad, I'm assuming It's from punk buster trying to update, I tried updating it and that didn't work, I disabled my firewall and anti virus but that didn't work either.

Anyone know a way to fix this?

is it lag spikes like every 30-90 seconds? or.. like all the time?

IF its 30-90 secs, try this.. This worked for me..

If it's still PB, well... keep trying to update.
