So your saying that although millions of dollars are now being given as prizes for video games competitions (TheCGS), it's still idiotic to consider gaming as a whole a serious organization? That makes no sense! Most of the people that come to the site are people that are either really serious about video games, and want to try to get a bit of a helping hand, as it were, to achieve professional status.

I'm not questioning the size or seriousness of the gaming market, but i do believe that pro gaming is such a niche, that if you require lessons to improve then you are never going to make it there in the first place!

(this part isn't carried over) Dancing lessons are great, music lessons, sports lessons too, but as gaming is quickly becoming a serious media outlet, thus gaming lessons a serious thing on which to spend your money.

I agree that the gaming market is becoming massive, and in a few years i suspect it will be challenging Hollywood!
I was going to say something about the fact that you are paying shows that you are too lazy to improve organically, however, you pay for sports lessons don't you lol

Gaming is becoming a serious enterprise, whether you like it or not. It's not as simple as, "well it's video games, so it should be free to learn."

My main problem with this idea is that you are paying for a service that will only be of use for 3-4 years at the most. The central tendency of the gamers market is an age of between 15-23 (maybe i should set up a poll and work out the standard deviation?
So, you spend a lot of money on these lessons for a skill which can only be used in one area and is non-transferable to any other tasks (maybe apart from guiding army laser guided missiles with an xbox controller :laugh: )
At least when you pay for sports lessons, you are learning how to keep fit, practising important motor skills like eye to hand co-ordination and maybe other vital skills such as teamwork and leadership!

Last thing, well done for coming on here and defending your side. A lot of people just reply "stfu" or something equally immature. So, it is nice to have a decent discussion!

Its rather odd that you dont see how this would work. Im not a professional gamer due to the lack of time, resources and dedication. But someone who would want extra speed in their path of improvement, wouldnt mind spending $$ on someone who obviously is with more knowledge about the subject.

Face the facts, we have a lot of people who have thousands of hours in the game that would get wiped by a professional gamer with 1/4th of the time spent. Some people have it in them, most dont. Those who have, help the rest. If they make money out of it, more power to them. I mean, really, the difference between me and them is that I write **** up for free, and Im not even close to being as good as they are.

I give them credit, there IS a market for this, there are millions of gamers out there and SOMEBODY is bound to want lessons and they took the initiative to cash in on someone wanting that service. It may not be the normal player like me or you that want the lessons, its probably someone who gets picked on in school has no life AND sucks at gaming and they want to get good at something. Me?? I prefer to take lessons in video editing. I searched for some video tuts on google for Vegas and sure there are a few but the video quality sucks and I would like to get high quality video tutorial OR someone to walk me thru the basics.

Horrible generalisation Gunslinger LOL. In my old clan we had a dedicated group of players who trained the recruits. And Im always down for reading up sh!T about new gameplay tricks. Fact is, you can always get better, you could pay 10 bucks and learn the fastest way there is, up and in direct, from someone who actually knows his trade. Or work your way up yourself. Both are good in my book, but if I wasnt as cheap as I am, Id probably take the lesson myself, just to see how a professionals mind works in the game. I wasnt picked on at school, I have a social life and I at least reach mediocre levels in the games I play :P
