We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.

I did a search for bf2 cache without success! There is a folder in My Documents called "LogoCache" (in BF2), is this what you refer to?
As teh little tykes say, ORly?
Google it, read the section, and try it. It solves maybe 50% of the graphical glitch problems people post about, followed by overheating, corrupt/bad drivers...etc.
Well, I deleted the cache and the first game I played no black spots, but last night I played and there were black spots everywhere!
I've de-dusted my rig today so we'll see if that helps.....
hmm...there's a (very) off-chance that your hd is so fragmented that it's stuttering (losing stuff) when it tries to load everything into memory for fast writes to your card.
clear cache, defragment, and try again.
if it isn't the heat, and isn't your cache, and isn't your drivers (you did uninstall/reinstall appropriate drivers?)...
...then it's got to be corrupt files in your BF2 program directory.
An uninstall, defrag, reinstall, repatch is a lot of trouble, but that's the last thing I'd try before switching games, lol.
edit: oh, and i've seen those big black stop signs, too. it was a driver issue for me with my old x800xt. overheating usually causes "giant tears/rips" that go across across the entire screen. but, again, problems are often specific for the system that makes them...so who knows.
