      Re: Strange Stutter

the stuttering is probably from the pagefile (which is like ram except alot slower cuz its on ur harddisk)

wat settings ru playing at? make sure u have textures set on medium or lower

u can try this not sure if itll help but

Try this in the console (`)

          pb_sleep 500 enter

i have a feeling that PB fixed it to be on 500 default in an update

You better defrag you drive and also clean up from system clutter etc.- use system mechanik pro. And you can also follow the optimization guides to battlefield this or this

                  Re: Strange Stutter

One gig is practically a minimum with BF2. But it is a workable minimum. As someone else mentioned, try lowering your settings a bit and see if that helps. In particular, lower your texture quality to ensure those don't get paged out to disk. That one setting helps me a lot.

                    Re: Strange Stutter

                    Also try this.....

MSconfig: This is a great program built into Windows XP. Most people should know about it, and how to use it, but I'll include it in here anyways.

                    1. Click on "Start" -> Then click on "Run" and type in "MSCONFIG" and hit "Enter"
                    2. Put the bullet into "Selective Startup"
                    3. Uncheck "Process Win.ini" "Process System.ini" "Load Startup Items". Don't worry about any other check boxes.
                    4. Click on the "Services" tab
                    5. Check the box that says "Hide all Microsoft Services"
                    6. Click on "Disable All"
                    7. Click Ok at the bottom and restart your computer. This will prevent many items from loading when windows starts.

After restart check the 'dont tell me again' tab and OK
Later you can add stuff YOU NEED to run by adding to startup!
                    Happy gaming

                      I don't see why that's so hard.

                      pbUNDERSCOREsleepSPACE500
                      pbUNDERSCOREwritecfg

                      Hence:

                      pb ==> PRESS SHIFT AND - KEY ==> sleep ==> PRESS SPACE ==> 500 ===> PRESS ENTER
pb ==> PRESS SHIFT AND - KEY ==>writecfg ===> ENTER

                      That becomes:

                      pb_sleep 500
                      pb_writecfg

If you want to put a setting down, the Terrain setting has the biggest impact on FPS and it also makes the game look like ***, then the Lighting setting, THEN the Textures setting.
