lol since my thread was deleted ill post this instead. I was wondering if i needed to upgrade my comp alittle here is what i have


Gateway AMD 64x 2 4400
Windows Vista
1024 Ram
Nvidia 7300 GS 256
350 watt supply
Soundblaster Audigy SE


If i upgraded to this would the game run alot smoother

1.5 Ram
GeForce 7800 GT OC 256MB PCI-Express

most definitely, 512 more of RAM will make a nice difference and with 7800GT you'll be able to crank up some of those settings and play on higher res.

Oh and downgrade back to XP man.

I have a 600W and it does the trick just fine. Not sure how much power you'll need to run a 7800GT, but consider the fact that you may need to upgrade your PSU as well.

I have an AMD 64x 2 4400, 7900GT, and 2 gigs of ram, and I run everything on max resolution/graphics with utterly no slowdown whatsoever even when there's explosions going on and everything. I'm not sure how to monitor FPS in BF2 (besides using fraps), but I've never noticed any problems with FPS even when running multiple games at once (running BF2, CS:S, and WC3 all at once).

I'm also not sure how much worse than a 7900GT your current card is, but I can easily run the game perfectly on max settings so maybe you should think about just getting another stick of RAM before you do anything more drastic.

I think 450W is minimum for 7800GT

-leave vid card for now.... The difference will be noticeable but not worthwhile to upgrade. Unless your loaded with cash then go nuts.

7600gt is worlds away a better BUDGET choice for upgrade to get decent fps/eyecandy. Assuming he's got 18A on the +12V rail, he could slap one of these in and be done with it.

Load one, load the other, etc.

Given enough RAM, you could load EVERYTHING on startup and still get your optimal FPS. Why? Because when you alt+tab, the processor doesn't have to handle the task that isn't in focus, so those games aren't using any CPU time. Same with the GFX card, so that leaves RAM which will suffer unless you have enough. With 4-8GB of RAM you should be able to run more games than you can humanely play at once.

see i can upgrade to a bigger card and at least one more stick of ram, but when i was running XP i didnt have any choppy problems only when i upgraded to VISTA

Two reasons,

1. For the most part Nvidia's Vista drivers still suck, even the latest 101.41.

2. The 7300GS is not and never was intended as a gaming card.

yea but when i was Active Duty thats all i could afford lol im trying to get a 7800 GT right now, what do u think about that, as well as 2gb ram

Seeing as you have Vista already, get the ram now and wait for the mid-range 8000 series cards (or ATI).
