vanilla BF2 dead?

Hey guys, haven't kept up with the BF2 community in awhile, yet I've recently started playing it again.

One thing that I've noticed though is there are usually only about 12 or so ranked servers up running the vanilla version of BF2. Did everyone commute over to BF2142? If so how does that game stack up against BF2?

ok roughly 5400....but im right about the populated ones (i think) i just let my servers refresh fully on populated only.

5399 are Karkand I/O FF=OFF, and--as best as I can tell--are all populated by the same player.

The other one alternates wake.

What version of BF2 are you playing? Version 1.00?

Download 1.41, there are thousands.

BF2 is still kind of ruined because of I/O. I barely play anymore and I've been playing CS:S again since it actually has good infantry combat. Infantry was never BF2's strong suit, so I don't know why people only want to play that.

I think it's cause they're tired of being raped by vehicle whores. Inf in BF2 isn't so bad when weapons are coded right. Play some mods, they own vanilla.

sadly that isnt true, but is. in vanilla, there IS roughly 2000 servers always up, bad news is that only about 800-900 of them are always populated. because of all those 2142 deserters.

2142 is just a sad attempt by EA to get some more of our hard earned cash. Even Halo PC beats it! thats sad, truly sad. If all your patches are current you should be able to come up with at least 500 populated servers that you can play on with vanilla BF2. I do, every day. . . . . . .Red
