Youve heard it right.

Of all people I have who played BF2 on my Xfire list, or my former SWAT4 clanmates, almost everyone who played BF2142 hasnt done it for a long time, and many of them play BF2 right now.

A group of guys I knew from BF2 played Bf2142 Demo the same time I did, and none of them are playing BF2142 now.

There are various reasons, and Im sure it isnt the bugs or glitches.

You obviously feel that BF2, is far better and superior then 2142, which is "too easy". You know, its probably because the medics dont get a full auto sniper rifle, and the supports dont get...a full auto sniper rifle, and engineer/anti-tank actually has a presence in the game.

And it doesnt matter whether you play karkand or not, because half the players do. Call me ignorant all you want, I should expect it for saying anything bad about BF2 and anything good about another game

Actually, Ive been watching CSI: Crime Scene Investigation reruns for the whole night and posting here was just a bonus when commercials came. I work a lot on graveyard shifts and often just wont sleep at nights.

That being said, I havent said BF2142 is a horrible game, it isnt the worst, it just is far worse than the fanboys make it out to be. Its not a leap forward from BF2, its a sidestep, and nothing more. Just a different direction. Just as many bugs, just as many problems. They released a patch with the game, for gods sake...

You know, its probably because the medics dont get a full auto sniper rifle, and the supports dont get...a full auto sniper rifle, and engineer/anti-tank actually has a presence in the game.

I play tactical games, SWAT4, used to play Americas Army. In SWAT4, even the worst weapon is a RAIL CANNON compared to BF2 best weapon. Meaning, they are accurate as fvcks, and kill you in 1 well placed shot, with the right ammunition type. Yet nobody complains. Every weapon is extremely different aswell. They are all accurate, to a point, and from a point, you can kill anyone with any weapon, yet they are all completely different, and you can actually play the game while staying at 2:1, 3:1 KDR... my record is 42 kills and 0 deaths, 15 minute round, with these uber accurate weapons.

So BF2 is a JOKE. Support weapon in SWAT4:TSS can literally block a way, 200 round magazine actually is sufficient enough to keep people from swarming in. Yet in BF2, you find yourself reloading often, with the support weapon. And you cant block a passage with it either.

In BF2142, its just worse, except for support weapons, witch have finally found their place.

You called me ignorant first, so lets drop the victim drama. Youre making BF2142 look better than BF2 in areas which it really isnt. Youre not saying "I like this game", youre saying "this game is way better because this is better than that".

And yes, Im bitter because BF2142 failed to impress me, while DICE built up a rather large hype, that I actually felt like was justified.

So um....what the hell do you want me to do about it...go back to 1942...every game has there stat padders and morons...dont judge the whole game on a few rounds....and quit wining...it gets you nowhere

The kits and vehicles are balanced against each other in 2142. Whether they're to your liking or not is another thing. The kits in BF2 are hideously balanced against both each other and against vehicles. Anti-Tank gets a rocket but no mines. Medic and Support dominate...etc. Artillery and airpower crush infantry, which makes sense but doesn't make for particularly fun gameplay for anyone not piloting a jet.

Among other things, and again I'll offer the disclaimer that I play on public servers mostly, I can't recall being teamkilled for a vehicle in 2142 more than maybe twice. It defintely hasn't happened in over a couple weeks. I get teamkilled for a vehicle every other round in BF2, if not more often. Half the time the guy just guns you down but other times they'll M95 you out of the pilot seat or Eryx your vehicle. Further, the number of griefers driving jeeps around and teamkilling everyone is drastically lower in 2142. I've only seen this happen a handlful of times after 180 hours of 2142.

There's also a lack of base raping. The titan hanger offers a safe spawn point and on Conquest maps you'll rarely see base raping outside of some extreme team imbalances. It does happen, of course, especially on the larger vehicle dominated Conquest maps. No jets dropping bombs and cannon strafing bases is a definite relief as well.

I still break out my joystick quite often though for some jet rapage in BF2. But the infantry combat, in my opinion, is awful with everyone dropping to prone ASAP and only certain kits being competitive.

I do agree on the point of 2142 taking some time to get used to wheras BF2 had me hooked from the first two minutes. Part of it is how boring the overall gameplay of 2142 is at first glance. There's no jets dogfighting, there's no attack choppers juking each other, no Blackhawks raining death from above (yes they got nerfed but I bought BF2 on day one and they owned back then). There's basically nothing that makes you say, 'Wow that was awesome!!'. I think I said that exact sentence twenty times in my first five hours playing BF2. There's just nothing particularly awe inspiring about 2142. So I definitely sympathize in that regard.

In any event, I'm glad both games are highly active in terms of # of online players. But I find 2142 infinitely more stressfree and thus more enjoyable.

Purchased BF2 about a week ago. And after coming off such a fine game as BF1942 & having played hundreds of hours of it I expected amazing gameplay etc...so I install, patch it & start up BF2..

But I was absolutely dissapointed in every aspect of the game. Everything was a severe let down. Planes, helicopters, infantry...the whole thing was just terrible.

1st let me start with system requirments... Higher than needed. Textures are bland for the most part & the physics are wack. Sound is really the only good part about bf2. Can you say memory hog? Apprently Bf2 can. maps are smaller than 1942's were & the textures are barely a step up, so for Bf2 I feel no more than 500MB should be needed....But Bf2 being the unoptimized POS it is...what else should I expect eh?

- Dog fights...wow where did the skill go? Anyone whos played Battle @ Britian 1942 map knows how amazing dog fights can be. But after hoping in a MIG-29 & completely dominating everything I was extremely turned off. I'd really hate to see Bf2 pilots play 1942, wouldnt stand much chance. I found myself using the MG on the jet & still raping all the enemy jets. Dont even get me started on the helicopters...

-Infantry, oh god. Nade much? Really its pretty sad. Some guys just sit in 1 spot throwing ammo bags down & nade like there life depends on it. 2ndly has Bf2 ever heard of a thing called hit detection? ya its where bullets actually hit your target...apprently Bf2 has never heard of it. Infantry Only? Whats this mode for? The special ed kids who cant avoid a tank? IO is a waste of time....IO is for point whores & stat padders.

- Maps. Horrible variety. All the city maps felt the same & the PLA maps were almost identicle minus songhua. Alot of them are extremely laggy at certain points.

- Weapon selection is decent. I cant complain about this, but a few of the weapons are ridiculously overpowered. The PKM, what is this thing? It might as well be a sniper rifle minus the scope. Another annoying problrm are snipers. In 1942 there are snipers but there never whored...I cant say the same for BF2. Seriously for every 10 players in the server 8 are snipers.

Another thing...could sniping in Bf2 possibly be any less skillful? What happen to the scope moving as you breathe? Seriously any idiot can own with a sniper rifle... I'd like to see some of these BF2 snipers play 1942.

I could go on & on about Bf2's faults...but the list is far to long...I see the Battlefield series going down the tubes...I really dread seing what the next BF game will be.

VTEC, I agree with you on most what youve said.

But gaming worls is without surprises and in every game there is a weapon that outclasses everything. Its up to the players to adapt and counter, or to use it themselves. BF2 offers a lot to adapt to any threat. And BF2142 lack of frustration points that its a game without the need of heavy brain work.

nah i disagreee :)
the only problems i have with bf2 are:
bunnyhopping/proning/trailing hitboxes and all that
The invincible J10/carrier spamming.
player who tk for jets then use the jets to rape

bf2142 is better for gameplay - there are no vehicles that are abused, its so balanced.
(expecting to be yelled at for saying 2142)

hes right about everything, except for the pkm and sniper rifles which are just as crappy as everything else.

and i really wished i had seen more comments like these and then i wouldnt have wasted my money

Oh ****, we are talking on a forum for THAT SAME GAME.

All of the links are legitimate, all the problems are there, the spyware does exist (hence why you must agree to IGN bs before you canplay the game, see the paper that comes witht the game).
I am puzzled why some of you refuse to acknowledge these problems/Facts. I guess the saying is true, Ignorance is truly bliss.
