I used to lag really bad only on OCS but I upgraded to 2 gigs and it runs really smooth now, i do get some lag on some maps from time to time, never had the minimize to desktop problem

I've had minimizing problems just recently too... And no it's not because of other programs running in the background (I shut them all down before playing).

There`s no reason the game would minimize itself unless you pushed the Windows key on your keyboard, which happens to me too from time to time...

P.S.: So you turn off the antivirus and firewall too when you play games?!? WOW, Talk about wondering where the viruses came from ....:shock: :shock:

Yes, just reminding and annoying us that it still there. Just incase we didn't get the first message then it stops our game altogether

I have been taking more the pilots seat in attack choppers for practice... It sure is not as fun and rewarding as gunner (especially when you have a mentally handicapped gunner), but still enjoyable.

Some problems I am facing though, include sudden lag (connection problems) for 1-2 seconds or more, causing me to crash, what is very annoying as the gunner will call me a noob (and I don't even know what happened!).

The other is a mysterious minimize to desktop thing, what is worse since it takes more time to restore... I am playing, and all of a sudden BF2 minimizes itself, for no reason. It is probably not spyware or virus as I scan often and it doesn't pop anything up...

Any fixes / ideas?

Try this buddy, Start the game, go to Option , Audio, and switch from Software to Hardware.Join a server and check the difference, let me know if it worked. That actually solved my lag issues ... and connection problems...

And for the minimizing issues, it`s not spyware nor a virus, but it`s probably a program running in the background, antivurus or something like that. I used to use BitDefender PRO and whenever it was upgrading itself, couple of times a day, it would minimize the game, got something else since and no more problems ...

Yup, for some reason Daqing seems to lag and stutter me. It's a performance problem, which shouldn't be there.

Perhaps it has something to do with the reflective water puddles that no other map has.

I get that same "lag" on Daqing: I'll be flying around normally when, for no obvious reason, the game will simply freeze up for three seconds and, naturally, greet me back with a smoking chopper on the ground. It doesn't do it on any other map so I know it's something related to the actual file... but meh, I've been too lazy to copy over it.

I used to have the Minimize to desktop problem...

Turned out to be the Software for my HP all in one printer causing it...

Got rid of it and prob is gone...

Oh, and if you play Euroforces, watch out for the Tiger rolling at takeoff. That bird has the problem worst of all the helos in BF.

If you have eMule and it is running then it could cause minimization.
I always switch it off for BF2 because it puts a squeeze on the link but when i leave it on with some other games or full-screen movies, I've experienced minimization.
It also might be some other program running in the background. Test it in e.g. singleplayer or some other game and see if closing some unimportant system tray program helps it.

Yeah I got that minimization for a long time too. Did a reformat and it hasnt come back.

Biggest one for me.. The really slow flying J10. Unbelievable how slow it can fly without dropping like a brick.

The shortcut key for switching programs is Alt+Tab, have you pressed that?

Maybe, maybe not. I have used 1.3 back then it didn't do that... But the CTD's are not happening so often anymore.

BF2 surprises for introducing new bugs... For every bug fixed there must be 3 new ones...
