    Well Im pretty good with the mouse and have no problems "Horsing" the heli around as needed in the game but to balance it to finish the circle with the nose pointed down at a enemy base or to slide to the side of a enemy chopper is where it really gets 'fine' on the controls.

    I might have to beef up the sensitivity in the game to force the game to provide greater "Authority" on the controls.

      Roll your joystick (X-axis) all the way to the left (or right), and turn the Rudder the opposite direction to control it. IE, if you are "sliding" left, you would roll left, and twist the rudder to the right.
      IMO, this is the shortest useful tip, as you asked for HOVERING, and to avoid incoming TV missiles, then keep your throttle up.
      Besides you can make some elusion, e.g. immelman turn, this one will help you to surprise him (depends which way you finish your 1/2 barrel turn) and save almost the same height.

      One more thing - map your stick with 8-10% central deadzone
