How is this performance for this new rig?

    System Specs:
    AMD 64bit X2 4200+ (stock)
    2Gigs of DDR400 Crucial Memory (4x512MB)
    ATI x1900xt (Cat 6.6 drivers)
Asus A8NE nForce 4 Ultra Motherboard
SATA II 150 WD Hard drive
Audigy 4 SE OEM sound card
    5.1 Speakers

    BF2 Specs:
    Video:
    Everything on High 1280x1024 @ 75 mhz
    6x AA
    16x Antistrophic Filtering
    100% View Distance
    Audio:
    High, Hardware, EAX

I’m getting around 55 FPS on average during battles, it will drop to 35 FPS in intense times and go up to 75 when nothing is happening.

I’m happy overall with the performance I guess, but even though the FPS is decent sometimes I find I occasionally get a lot of stuttering even with a good ping, but only sometimes, if I restart my system, it usually fixes it. I suspect it’s the video card getting stuck in 2D mode from me Remoting into the PC from work occasionally. But that’s just a theory I really don’t know what the problem is. I am using the latest nForce system drivers.

Would the AMD dual core fix maybe help me out a bit?
I am getting the right performance for this rig?

Where do you guys think my bottleneck is?

1 thing you can do to add a bit of performance is get 2x 1gb sticks runs dual channel and be at 1t command rate where 4 sticks = 2t and slow performance. some people experience up to 15% increase in performance by switching fromt 2t to 1t on memory.

i havent installed any new dual core drivers or hotfix and my bf2 runs between 50-90 all depends on lag. i did notice my bf2 use to run faster, until i receieved my replacement for my 7900gt ko, i think its dieing again... have to rma it. if you OC your cpu u wont hardly see a diff. you might if u had the 4400 w/ 1mb cache, but some people swear theres almost no diff vs 1mb and 512 cache. nothings really gonna help i mean unless you go crossfire and or buy conroe and have raid0(load times), but its all pointless for what 10-20fps?

          Very true.

Will this ram run in 1T? Is it really worth CAD $240 to get back into dual channel at 1T, when I already have 2 gigs of ram? Maybe I can sell my old ram?

Try to check if this ram is compatable with the motherboard.

as far as i know almost any 2 sticks running in dual channel will(should) run 1t its
but if u have 4 sticks u HAVE to run 2t.

thats good ram too very low timings so it should be pretty fast and will run 1t. like hiv said make sure you mobo supports those sticks.

as for it being worth it to u i dont know its your money some people splurge on expensive jeans or some people buy pc hardware. like i mentioned people state you can get 5-15% increase in performance.

when i build my system my mobo set my ram to 2t by defualt and when i change it to 1t i got a few fps higher on 3dmark06 tests and about 100pt difference.
