What should I upgrade?

Hey guys I have BF2 but I am stuck running it on the lowest settings due to my system.

Here are my specs :cry: :

2.0 ghz Pentium 4
Win XP
Overclocked Nvidia 5600 256MB ultra
512 Kingston DDR ram
etc.

What should I upgrade first to get the best bang for my buck. I know my system is archaic, but what can I do with 200 bucks to at least run on Medium settings?

possibly everything you just mentioned...
faster processor
better video card....6600gt is ur best bet
and a 1gb of memory
so with 200 bucks urbest bet is to get another 512 stick of memory and a 6600gt...with that you can probably run on medium high. Good luck

deff get at least another 512 of ram, and upgrade to a 6600GT if you are limited on your spending, if you wanna spend about 300 get the eVGA 6800 GT

A better processor deffinitly. TBH , a whole new PC but if you cant afford it right now upgrade a bbit at a time, CPU first priority.

No point getting anything higher than a 6600GT as your CPU will be the bottleneck. Extra RAM is a defo. Says he with only 768MB. 1GB is the developers recomendations but 1.5GB is the general consenus opinion.

i'd suggest getting the video card (the best you can afford that will fit in your board..6800Gt or ATI X8 series) for your budget and then save a little more n get the ram. theres no point in getting a lower spec card (like the 6600gt) & 512mb ram and wishing you'd of waited a little longer got a more powerful video card.
you should think about the bigger picture.
$200 = best card you can buy (will run better )- followed by more ram in a few weeks 7 then a cpu = over time you can increase your spec and your gaming quality.
or
$200 = 6600gt & 512mb ram - and want more power later on - need to buy more again having spent up and needing more money for the next 1 up.

Like I said, if your not planning on upgrading your CPU you would be wasting your money getting anything higher than a 6600GT. But if your planning to do it a few months after get a 6800GT/X8.....

this is what you should do. buy a gig of dual channeled ram. get an AMD processor and overclock it if you wish. and if you get a motherboard with pci-e on it.ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe is a great motherboard, i have it too. its only $90 on www.newegg.com and 1.5gb CAS2 pc3200 DDR dual Channel is what im running. good stuff man

Thanks guys. I have 2x256mb of ram right now so I would need to pay for 1gb to swap. I think the general concensus is RAM at this point. I'd rather get 2GB for a little under 200 bucks at newegg.com and slowly make all the weakpoints at full potential. Needless to say I have to do something! :cry:
