Phenom X4 965 Black Edition + ATI = the better Cost–benefit.
i tell you, when buying the source, think about in the future crossfire, corsair TX850 v2 or 850w reais!

Re: Help building a new PC
I just built an AMD pc with a AMD 970. The motherboard is an AM3+ socket so I will be able to upgrade to a bulldozer in the future. I just bought the cpu, mb and 4 gigs of ddr3 ran, 850w psu for around 450 dollars. I have yet to purchase a video card as I am waiting for the BF3 beta to come out. The other stuff I re used from my old computer.Leave a comment:

Re: Help building a new PC
The new 990 boards from asus have the ability to go crossfire or sli and i paid 179 for 1100t 3.3 stock 6 core, put zalman cooler on it and 4.6 at around 30 C idle and around 200 for the board (couple months ago) which holds 32 gigs and up to 4 way sli and ram is cheap and i would go with 6950 its 100 dollars less and really close to specs of 6970. Like some have suggested you might wanna wait alittle bit to see what the bulldozer is all about.Leave a comment:

Re: Help building a new PC
Oh? ok, but I do really need a new PC like right now, I just wanted a not so expensive one and that processor looks the right middle of price/power.
I just want a PC for current gaming: play Allods online almost or maxed, BC2 and Left4 dead on high; I don't go crazy if I can't enable 8x AA (and in fact, I usually don't even turn it on at all) and I would still save for a 1 thousand+ PC by the end of year anyways.Leave a comment:

Re: Help building a new PC
Wait. If your building for bf3 wait. AMD has new cpu coming out soon with a new socket AM3+.
The 465 is a good cpu. You can do more then 6 gigs on AM3. SLI are rare on AMD boards and most likely it a older chipset if you find one.
I run BFBC2 on my 465 @90-120fps all high.Leave a comment:

Help building a new PC
I am usually an intel costumer; but with BF3 looming on the horzon and the inmediate need for a more than average PC that doesn't cost me an arm and a leg, I am seriously considering the AMD cheapskate alternative.
I am reading good reviews on the Phenom X4 965 Black Edition; and it is much more affordable than a core i5 or i7 gaming rig; the residue cash from the processor/motherboard will allow me to buy a bigger video card, or maybe try my first xfire/SLi gaming PC.
I need advise on a good brand/reliable motherboard with AM3 socket that will support more than 6GB or RAM; I plan on installing win7 x64 and I'm still deciding between geforce or radeon; but will most likely go with a radeon since I will try the Phenom this time. (possibly a 6970, the 6990 is out of my budget)
Is there anybody here running BC2 on a phenom processor what's your performance?Tags: None
