    Bad Ram?

Allright installed my New ram 1st thing Can't do dual channel.. Can't do 1T?

This is a ss from everest with my old 2 x 512 MB PC3200 @ 200 Mhz [Dual channel] 1T

And this is a ss from my new ram 4 x 512 MB PC3200 @ 200 Mhz [NOT DUAL CHANNEL] 2T

    WTF?!?!?!?!

I'll show you another SS from Everest (modified with Photoshop)

With this Setup (Old PC3200 , New PC3200 , New PC3200 , Old PC3200) I was able to boot up with 2048 Memory displayed on Startup screen.

Any help an getting this run faster is HIGHLY appreciated

    Sys specs:

    Asrock 939 Dual sata
    AMD Athlon X2 3800
    2048 MB PC3200 (4 x 512 PC3200)
    Geforce 6800 GT (AGP)
Coolermaster Real power 450 Watts PSU

    Re: Bad Ram?

you cannot run 1T with 4 sticks of ram on the 939 platform. and dual chnnel doesnt work alot of times with 4 sticks eather especially if they are not matched

      Re: Bad Ram?

But is it that BAD that i'm running now @ Half the performance Compared to 2 stick dual 1t?????

Or is it related to the 2 ranks 4 banks V.S 1 rank 4 banks Issue (as listed in the modified SS form everest)

How will i get my normal performance back??

        Re: Bad Ram?

the thing about running 4 sticks of ram is it really stresses the A64 memory controller alot. so i would say your performence is somewhat normal. does BF2 run better now? or worse? if worse then theres an issue. (and nice to see you on EOCF)

You can with the Venice cores...as long as the modules are single sided(uncommon)...which his are not.

2T vs 1T? Not really a big deal...you might lose 1fps. It shows up more on synthetic benchmarks which don't apply to real world/games.

But, the showing of single channel while all slots are occupied is strange. It should be a no-brainer as you couldn't possibly have them in the wrong slots!

So, it has to have something to do with the ranks/banks difference. Try rearranging the modules, or replace the new ones with identical ranked/banked like the first set.

Your mobo manual may specifically mention a rank/bank limitation.
