I'm going to say this much on the issue. If you want it to look pretty, and you want it on a laptop, your either going to have to buy a super expensive uber-tehroxxor 1337 laptop, or settle for something that is cheaper, but isn't as pretty.
If you want high res textures, you going to want 1.5 to 2 gigs of RAM.

i know its sept already but can i ask a question?
Is the x1600 still a decent card to go with for bf2? I only wanna spend up to 1700, and I got a nvidia on my desktop but the 7900s in notebooks are pricey arent they?
oh and i need a Merom Core 2 Duo T7400 2.16GHz 64Bit 4M 667 FSB ES
chip which not everyone carries~ i dont need but want. 64bit 4M should run nicely with a x1600 or better card and 1 gig ram at ddr2 667mhz
But the main question is you guys think the x1600 will run good on bf2? i would like to run all settings on max if you guys could direct me to a decent priced notebook

I'd look at www.notebookforums.com - that's where i did a lot of the research that led to me buying the rig described in my sig. that was two years ago, so i'm not sure what $1,500 to $2K could get you today...

Dell has systems that with the 7900gs for around $2000-$2300 mark. If the 7900gs is leaps and bounds better then the x1600 then I will spend the extra $200 bucks. I just don't really care for dell unless you really think it's great bang for the buck and performance is awsome.

Ok, I looked around a bit. Thanks HIV for your recommendations, but it seems that all those laptops had the ATI Mobility x1600. I was checking out Dell and they have the XMS laptops with the nVidia 7900 GS'erizes. I can't seem to find many if any benchmarks to compare the two gpu's. With everything else equal, which gpu would you go with. I am primarily going to use this for bf2 and bf2142, so which gpu is best for Gods gift to gamers.
Thanks

Buying a Laptop for BF2/BF2142, need recommendation
Ok, first let me say that I already have a 3500+ AMD x64 with a 7800gt so don't give me the schpeal about laptops suck in the long run, becuase I understand and agree with that and already have a good pc for gaming. The reason I'm asking you guys what Laptop is great for gaming is that I just got a job doing consultant work and will be traveling extensivley, therefore I need something mobile to get my game on as oppossed to being bored off my *** at a hotel 4 nights a week.
So, I know that Intel is beaten the crap out of AMD:cry: with the new core2Duo cpu's. What about the mobile cpu's with the yonah cores. Are those similar to the core2Duo cpu's in terms of being really cheap(compared to AMD before price drop) and able to whomp All other CPU's in thier price range. What do you think?
Now on to graphics. I currently use a 7800gt, because at the time(before 7900) this card was the best price to performace card I could get. Well, I'm looking for the same type of class for the mobile mareket as well. What do you guys think?
Finally, if you were to buy a resonable(no $5K lappies for me) right now what would you go with? Give me some Idea's of why you would get X laptop over Y laptop.
Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to give as much info without being to vague and getting the "give more info" replies.Tags: None
