Call of Duty Shakeup - Call of Duty 2020 is Another Black Ops and Is Modern Warfare 4 Going Free-to-Play?

Reports include talk of arguments between Sledgehammer and Raven.

There are reported some massive changes happening behind the scenes of the Call of Duty franchise. According to a new report from Jason Schreier of Kotaku, Call of Duty 2020 is no longer being developed by Sledgehammer and Raven. It will instead be handled by Treyarch and it will be another entry in the Black Ops saga.

This is the first major change in the development cycle of the Call of Duty franchise since 2012. Since then, the Call of Duty games have cycled between three lead studios. Those studios...

Bungie Brings Back the Nerf Gun on Fan-Favorite Destiny 2 Weapons

Old Bungie is back.

Around the release of the Curse of Osiris update for Destiny 2, Bungie had vowed to take a drastically different approach to how they handle community favored weapons in the game. Old Bungie would have nerfed those weapons into the ground without a second thought.

But new Bungie? New Bungie said that they wanted to instead buff up other weapons to make them more attractive choices. This was a part of their "Go Fast Update" initiative. Specifically, here is what they said in all capital letters for some weird reason (via Game Rant).

Review: A Plague Tale: Innocence (PC)

Incredible from start to finish.

Every once in a while there comes a new game release that defies all expectations. A Plague Tale: Innocence is one such game. Thanks to a delicate balance of satisfying gameplay and an engaging story, A Plague Tale will sink its hooks into you right from its opening chapters. Though there are a couple of small missteps along the way, the journey you share with siblings Amicia and Hugo is one you really don't want to miss.

There are many more review "buzz words" I could use to describe A Plague Tale, but I will spare you from...

New Final Fantasy VII Remake Teaser

Just watch it.

A new teaser trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake was finally shown off today. It's the first one shown off in, I think, over a year. It's not much but maybe it'll be enough until we hear and see more this June. ...

Sonic Movie Delayed Until Valentine's Day 2020

Gotta go... take your time and avoid crunch!

Many fans were wondering just how the Sonic the Hedgehog movie team was going to drastically redesign the blue blur and still get the movie done in time for the planned November 2019 release. It probably would have involved an absolute ton of crunch for the entire animation department.

Thankfully, the release date of the film has been pushed back.

Director Jeff Fowler made the announcement earlier today via Twitter. He notes that the new release date is slated for none other than Valentine's Day in 2020. That...

Conan Unconquered to Launch Earlier than Expected

    The rare anti-delay announcement.

It's not often we get to put up a story about how a game is going to launch earlier than expected, but that is precisely what is happening with Conan Unconquered. Funcom and developer Petroglyph announced today that the upcoming strategy title set in the Conan the Barbarian universe will now launch on May 29.

The previously planned release day was May 30.

Alright, so it's not a HUGE bump, but it's still something to celebrate if you've been looking forward to this! As a little reminder, Conan Unconquered has some Command...

Final Fantasy XV Surpasses 16 Million Players

    That's a big number.

Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy XIV Online has surpassed the 16 million registered user mark today. While this is a very impressive number, it does not actually say how many of those registered users are active players.

Final Fantasy XIV has been going on for about six years now. The studio is still actively updating the game and delivering new content on a regular basis. This also includes their upcoming expansion, Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, on July 2, 2019.

Today's impressive number came during a livestream featuring...

  • Call of Duty 2019 is Soft Reboot, Called 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare'

Call of Duty 2019 is Soft Reboot, Called 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare'

    Déjà vu.

According to some rumors with a bit of meat to them, we now know a couple of interesting details concerning the 2019 Call of Duty release.

First off, this year's game is called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. I'm dead serious. It's going to be a new entry in the Modern Warfare series that originally started with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in 2007. I know the difference between the two titles is literally just a single character, but it is a difference. Amusingly, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is actually the fourth Modern Warfare title, effectively making this...

  • Valve Kicks Off Spring Cleaning Event

Valve Kicks Off Spring Cleaning Event

Play some old games before you buy new ones?

Given that we already seem to know when the Steam Summer Sale will go live, it just makes sense that you should play and finish some of your back catalog first. That seems to be what Valve was thinking when they kicked off their Spring Cleaning Event today. This event rewards you for playing old games that have been sitting in your library, games you haven't played yet, and even some new, free games they're offering for the duration of this event.

The following games are freer to play while the event is live. I don't believe...

  • Anthem Falls Out of Top 49 Most Played Games on Xbox

Anthem Falls Out of Top 49 Most Played Games on Xbox

It's being beat by games that have been out for far longer.

This week, Microsoft updated their most played games section on their store. These are the most played games in the Xbox ecosystem from 1 to 49. Why 49 and not 50? How am I supposed to know? The important part here is that Anthem has now fallen off of this most played list.

The last handful of games on the list include Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Borderlands 2, Brawlhalla, and Battlefield 1. That's Battlefield 1, not the more recent Battlefield 5 which is actually looking to be the 23rd most played game on the...
