Unity Changes Terms Once More, Commits to 'Being an Open Platform'

Unity has had a real interesting seven days. Last week, SpatialOS from developer Improbable was apparently barred from being used within Unity development. SpatialOS is a robust tool that many Unity developers use to add multiplayer to their games. For a time, Unity's new Terms, which went live in early December but were only clarified to Improbable last week, actually affected games that were already released. This led to some quick back and forths between Improbable and Unity through their respective sites. It all seemed to quiet down when Improbable and Epic Games formed a joint $25...

EA Cancels Yet Another Star Wars Game (Update)

A headline like "EA Cancels Another Star Wars Game" feels like they're a dime a dozen these days. I think EA may have cancelled as many Star Wars games as they have closed studios at this point. Here we are again and here EA is with another cancelled EA game on their hands. This time, the development studio has decided to cancel its open-world Star Wars game that EA Vancouver had been working on. Prior to EA Vancouver working on this title, it was in development from Visceral Games. Of course, EA shut down Visceral Games back in 2017. In fact, when Visceral was working on the game it wasn't an open-world title but rather a more linear action-adventure game that was being directed by...

Review: Last Year: The Nightmare (PC)

A solid asymmetrical survival-horror game that's light on content.

Asymmetrical multiplayer games have been going steady for the past few years now. Some of the biggest games in that particular genre include the long departed Evolve, the still ongoing Dead by Daylight, and even Friday the 13th if you're into that sort of thing. You can now add in Last Year: The Nightmare to the mix as it combines 5 versus 1 multiplayer with elements of survival-horror. As with those other titles, Last Year places one player in the shoes of a bloodthirsty murderer while the rest of the players play as one of five teenagers trying to survive and escape. What it delivers is a well-crafted gameplay experience that ultimately comes up short on content. Last Year: The Nightmare relies on a number of tried and true horror movie clich├ęs. The group of teenagers include the nerdy kid, the popular girl, a stereotypical jock, and m...

Jump Force Open Beta Begins January 18

Come January 18th, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 owners will get to try out Jump Force in what Bandai Namco is calling an "open beta weekend." Be it a true beta or a "demo" is besides the point because what really matters is that you will finally get to test drive the fighting game that we have been passing along news about now for months.

Here's how it's going to go down. First off, there will be four separate three-hour long sessions:

Secondly? Well, that's kind of it. Just make sure you download the demo and you can play during...

Bungie Ditches Activision, Acquires Rights to Destiny

Moving forward, all future Destiny titles will be self-published by Bungie. I guess even Activision had to tap out after the latest Destiny 2 puzzle, eh?

After eight years, Bungie and Activision are parting ways and with it so does Activision's control over the Destiny franchise. Bungie announced today that they are acquiring publishing rights to their popular shooter.

Mere moments ago, Bungie made the announcement on their website in an aptly named news entry called "Our Destiny."

Bungie continues on to say that they will...

Call of Duty: WWII Hits Half a Billion Dollars in Sales

Let's be honest with ourselves, we knew that the new Call of Duty was going to sell well. It should come as no surprise then that Activision released a statement today saying that Call of Duty: WWII sales have hit half a billion dollars in its three-day launch weekend. That's a cool $500 million+ of sold-through units around the world.

Call of Duty: WWII Carentan Trailer

Call of Duty: WWII is bringing back the Carentan map for the game's multiplayer. The map was the focus of a new Paris Games Week trailer earlier today.

Carentan was a multiplayer map in the OG Call of Duty, Call of Duty: United Offensive, and Call of Duty 2. It was re-imagined as Chinatown for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

New Call of Duty: WWII Game Ready Drivers Released from Nvidia

Nvidia released some new Game Ready 388.13 WHQL drivers today in anticipation of the upcoming release of Call of Duty: WWII. In addition to the Call of Duty optimizations, the drivers also offer up some performance gains in Need for Speed Payback and Nioh: Complete Edition. They are also "recommended" for Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, which probably means they include the hotfix that came out for the last major driver update that helped the game to not crash on older Nvidia cards.

For those wondering, the system requirements for the PC version of Call of Duty: WWII can be found below. These updated requirements go hand in hand with improvements made since the open beta.

  • Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Gets Spooky Goodies for October

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Gets Spooky Goodies for October

Four weeks of activities for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare proves that even in the future things still get spooky and creepy around Halloween. Infinite Ward put together four weeks of Halloween themed content that they're calling "Willard Wyler's Halloween Scream." Willard Wyler being a fictional character in the Zombies mode for Infinite Warfare. He is voiced by none other than Pee-Wee Herman himself, Mr. Paul Reubens.

The event, which began today and runs through to November 1, offers up some goodies like double XP events, a new zombie mode, the return of Gesture Warfare, and a bunch of new loot.
Gesture Warfare Returns When the Gesture Warfare first came to Infinite Warfare this September, Call of Duty fans found

SMG Gets Nerfed in Call of Duty: WWII Beta

If you are like me and feel like the Call of Duty: WWII beta is full of nothing but SMG wielding foes, you aren't alone. It's a broken gun class. They shoot laser beams that hurt. Scientists call them "hurt beams" and they are all over the beta.

Fortunately, the developers are aware of just how stupidly broken that gun class is and they have already addressed it. An update is either already out or is forthcoming that includes some of the following changes and fixes.

Call of Duty has a Really Bogus "Days of Summer" Trailer

I "get" what they were going for with this trailer, but that doesn't mean it's good. The new trailer for the "Days of Summer" content and event for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is like totally bogus dude.
Call of Duty is coming in hot this summer! Enjoy five weeks of in-game fun in the sun, including free access to themed maps, special playlists, new gear, weapon camos, in-game events, and much more, starting June 27th for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, and July 11th for Call of Duty: Black Ops III. • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Stand-Alone Maybe Coming June 27 for $40

Despite Activision claiming time and time again that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered would never be sold separately, it looks like they were lying. Well, they're lying assuming that the rumors are true, rumors that have photographic evidence to back up the claims.

According to some tips provided to Charlie Intel, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will be released as a stand-alone product on June 20 for the rather lofty price of $39.99 (USD). The anonymous source said that the computers at their place of business provided the date and they provided photos of the screen along with two shots of the box art (front and...

Call of Duty: WWII Multiplayer Reveal Trailer

There was a multiplayer reveal trailer shown tonight for Call of Duty: WWII. Chance are, if you are interested in this game you already say the trailer since it literally already has 1.1 million views in just a couple of hours. What was that about the franchise supposedly dying?

Building a Better TGN Part 2 - Overview of New and Returning Features
    Shawn Zipay

Last week I kind of detailed the process of what it took to even get the site up and running following the upgrade to vBulletin 5.4.5 from 4.2.1. Today, I'll go over some of the new features for all of you members out there, plus some of the more forward facing changes made to the site. I'll try to make this short and a bit more concise than last week's entry. Custom StyleThe most obvious thing you will notice when visiting the site is the current site design. I worked for a long time customizing a site design from one of the default vBulletin designs. Customizations include, but are not limited to:...

Building a Better TGN Part 1 - Banks and Technical Issues
    Shawn Zipay
As you have probably noticed by now, Total Gaming Network is looking a little bit different than what it was only about a month ago. We are now on the latest version of vBulletin, which just happens to be 5.4.5. We are also on a far more up-to-date version of PHP. We are also on some better server hardware than we were previously. The Boring Technical StuffThis particular version of vBulletin (5.4.5) came out roughly a month ago. We were previously on vBulletin 4.2.1, a release that initially came out in mid-2013. This equates to roughly 5-6 yea...
