Latest Chivalry 2 Content Update Offers Kingly Battles

  • Latest Chivalry 2 Content Update Offers Kingly Battles (Updated)

Everything comes to an end eventually (or not).

Art for the Regicide update for Chivalry 2 showing warring factions with kings and knights.

Update: The original press release for this update stated that it was the "final free content update" for Chivalry 2. An updated release has since removed the word "final" from that statement.

It looks like there may still be more content to come after this update? The original, unedited post can still be found below.

Original: Torn banner Studios and their publisher, Tripwire Presents, just released the latest and possibly last content update for Chivalry 2. The update is called 'Regicide' and it's out now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Torn Banner specifically notes that this is the "final free content update for Chivalry 2." You can take this to mean that all future content updates will be paid, or you can go with the safer assumption and say that Chivalry 2 will not receive any further content updates. Either way, it is certainly a bummer.

Today's Regicide update continues the war between the Mason Order and Agathia and takes it to an all-new map. This new update includes kingly battles, a new polearm weapon, new campaign pass, new cosmetic options, and various bug fixes.

The highlights can be seen below for this update. The full list of changes can be found on the Chivalry website.

    • New Map - Regicide at Trayan Citadel: The final showdown between the Mason Order and Agathian army has arrived at the Mason’s doorstep. The battle begins outside the walls with the assaulting Agathian army tasked with taking the outer encampment and escorting “The Lion’s Thrust” ram to breach the front gates. Once inside soldiers will battle through the citadel’s corridors before arriving at Malrick Castle, where King Malric takes to the field himself. The final map will deliver epic, cinematic moments for players throughout, even if the bard's tales of the citadels' volcanic secrets bends the truth just a bit.
    • New Weapon - Goedendag: The Goedendag brings unique properties for a polearm designed to give it a niche of its own, usable by Poleman and Engineer Footman classes. The weapon trades the traditional longer reach of polearms for versatility, with a unique weapon head that can deal both blunt damage with swings and overhead attacks and piercing damage when thrust into enemies. In addition, properly timed special attacks deal massive damage to horses and are powerful enough to stop them in their tracks.
    • Regicide Campaign Pass: Like traditional battle passes, players can complete challenges to progress and earn in-game rewards including currency and armory items as they play. However, unlike traditional battle passes the Regicide Campaign Pass will not expire and can be progressed at the player’s own pace. Players can upgrade to the Premium Campaign Pass for 1,000 in-game crowns to unlock additional rewards.
    • New Character and Weapon Customizations: Unlock a variety of new cosmetic options including four new armor set options, five new weapon, a new helmet and more!
    • Additional Bug Fixes, Quality of Life Enhancements, and Performance Improvements

The Hell? They changed the context of the press release? I am so confused. And it looks like this is the only site to actually report that change (and change the title which Google has yet to scrape). Did they mean final battle, or final free content, or "WHO PUT THE DAMN WORD FINAL IN?!" Very confused.

They change things at will, of course. Remember when they said there was going to be Steam / Epic cross -progression? Ha, ha. good one, Torn Banner.
