A new trailer for the Uncharted film came out this week. It features a lot more of Tom Holland's Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg's Victor "Sully" Sullivan in action.
Perhaps the biggest thing of note in the new trailer is the appearance of Sully's iconic mustache. The lack of a mustache in the film's first trailer was something that I certainly took issue with (along with most other fans of the franchise). I still feel like the mustache won't appear until a post-credit's scene, but we'll have to take what we can get.
This new trailer also shows off a bit of Antonio Banderas as the film's villain, Sophia Ali as Chloe Frazer, Tati Gabrielle as Braddock, and others. The film is directed by Venom's Ruben Fleischer. Uncharted will be released in theaters (Covid variants permitting) on February 18, 2022.
Frankly, I would've preferred this to be adult Drake's first adventure. An origin story seems pointless. It's not like we knew who Nathan Drake was in the first Uncharted game, yet he was popular enough to continue the franchise. So an origin story that requires the same adventure/danger intensity as what he experiences in the future, for the sake of having an interesting movie seems... Unconvincing and unnecessary.
