Sony just announced that they are going to release a slew of new PlayStation 5 console covers. And by "a slew" I mean five. They will release five new colors that aren't the default white that the console ships with. These will allow you to change the sides of your PS5 to either pink, blue, purple, red, and black.
Yes, this now means that you can officially have a fully black PlayStation 5 as the center portion of the console was already black to begin with.
Sony says that these covers will be available starting in the first half of 2022. The first colors will be Midnight Black and Cosmic Red in January 2022. In the following months, they will release Nova Pink, Galactic Purple, and Starlight Blue. Two variations of each cover will be released, one for the Digital Edition and another for the PS5 with the disc drive.
These covers can be pre-ordered directly from Sony for $54.99 (USD). The covers will be available initially for the following regions: United States, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Korea, and the Philippines. Other regions will be added later in 2022.
Sony also announced that they will release DualSense controllers in Nova Pink, Starlight Blue, and Galactic Purple in January 2022. These will join the Cosmic Red and Midnight Black controllers that were already released.
