Warner Bros. has officially announced a new fighting game that blends together characters from several of its popular franchises. It's called Multiversus and it will be a free-to-play fighter that seems like one part Smash Bros. and one part Bugs Bunny.

The reveal came courtesy of a new and in-depth trailer that came out earlier today. The developer behind the game, Player First Games, says that Multiversus will be a cross-platform fighter. The game will include several key figures from multiple properties such as Batman, Superman, Tom and his pal Jerry, Shaggy from Scooby Doo, and even Arya Stark from Game of Thrones.

Player First Games will also include some original characters in the game. This includes Reindog, a reindeer dog. Others will be announced "soon." Earlier leaks of Multiversus suggested that Gandalf of Lord of the Rings fame will also be a playable character.

Multiversus will offer players 1v1 matches or 4-player free-for-all battles. There will also be a 2v2 mode that seems to be the main focus of the game. Characters have unique abilities that seem to pair well with other characters' abilities. Each character will also apparently be voice acted, a factor that pushed many fans away from the recently released Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.

Player First Games also states that there will be dedicated game servers right out of the gate. They also promise "best in class" netcode that includes rollback. Full cross-play and cross-progression will be available between PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. Players will also be able to form and run their own in-game Guilds that can battle other Guilds.

Look for Multiversus to be released in 2022.
