Louise was 49 years old when the announcement of her death came on August 6 by colleague Mário Tupinambá Filho on Instagram.

The suspect is 27 year old Pedro Paulo Gonçalves Vasconcellos da Costa. He was arrested on August 13 by homicide detectives. He is accused of murdering Louise on July 22 in her apartment located in the southern region of Rio. The cause of death was multiple stab wounds.

Brazilian newspaper O Globo shares a report by Leandro Costa, the lead investigator on the murder. Costa says that Christiane Louise lived alone but was recently letting Pedro Paulo live at her apartment in the weeks leading up to her death. When questioned about her death, Pedro Paulo says that he had not spoken to Louise since June 17. He claims that Louise had traveled to Mangaratiba with her boyfriend and would be gone for a period of 15 days.

After further questioning, Pedro Paulo eventually confessed to the murder. He claims he was acting in self-defense and that Louise was "possessed by the devil." Pedro Paulo was also reportedly aided by his mother, Eliane Gonçalves Vasconcellos da Costa, and one other accomplice, to try to hide the body on Grumari Beach. At the time of this report, Eliane Gonçalves remains at large.

Fans of Christiane Louise have taken to social media today to offer their condolences and share their love for the roles and characters that she helped bring to life.
