Glitchpunk from Daedalic Entertainment was just released into Steam Early Access today. The game is said to be a modern take on the old-school GTA 2 feel all set within the cyberpunk-themed world of New Baltia. This Early Access release is available for $19.99 (USD) with a 20% discount at launch.
Much like its inspiration, Glitchpunk is a top-down action game where you will shoot, brawl, drive, steal, and sneak through a neon-soaked world full of bangs, cults, and other societal evils. The developer says that the game isn't just about blowing things up. They aim to tell a "compelling story of transhumanism, xenophobia, and religion." You will "influence the world around you, make new friends, face off against more enemies than you can count," and maybe convert an enemy into an ally.
Two more cities will join New Baltia as the Early Access period progresses. These cities are Neo Tokyo and Moscow. Each city will have its own gangs and characters to interact with.
In Glitchpunk you play as a glitching android going against your own programming and challenging the tyrannical governments and megacorps of the dystopian near-future. Forge your own path in several cities full of drug-crazed gangs, aggressive police, and irresponsible drivers that make each mission and playthrough unpredictable. Steal cars and lead your enemies on a merry chase, fight them with a variety of melee and long-range weapons, and upgrade your own body with technology that enables you to manipulate your surroundings or improve your capabilities.
