Halo Infinite had a pretty good showing at this year's E3. We were given a first ever look at the Halo Infinite multiplayer and all the chaotic mess that entails thanks to the Xbox E3. This is actually the first of several looks at Infinite's multiplayer that 343 Industries and Microsoft have planned through the week of E3. You can see the full schedule of their planned events at Halowaypoint.com.
343 is planning on offering a multiplayer experience that is welcoming to new players and veterans alike. For new players, they will have a Spartan Academy and Spartan Commander Laurette who will "help players familiarize themselves with maps, weapons, and equipment." There will also be bot matches that new players can warm up with before they jump into the real deal.
The studio also notes that Halo Infinite is a game that will "grow over time with the community." Given how they turned Halo: The Master Chief Collection around, I trust that 343 Industries is already well acquainted with listening to community feedback. Some of their plans include trying new things and new experiences alongside the typical addition of new maps and modes.
Halo Infinite's multiplayer will be free-to-play for everyone on Xbox and PC. There will be cross-play and cross-platform progression. Halo Infinite will be released "Fall 2021" for a price of $59.99 (USD) on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10, and Steam.
Also shown off during their E3 presentation was a little bit about the Halo Infinite campaign. However, I cannot seem to find an official upload of that segment anywhere. I will instead share a little bit about Joseph Staten, head of creative for Halo Infinite, has to say about what they shared regarding that. If I find an official upload of the campaign stuff, I'll share it later.
"We are continuing the story of the Master Chief and Cortana from Halo 5, but also telling a story that’s welcoming for new players. Cortana’s fate is one of the Infinite campaign’s big mysteries, and early in the story, you will meet a new UNSC AI, “the Weaponâ€, that was created to help stop Cortana. Together with the Pilot, the Master Chief, and the Weapon begin an epic adventure to explore Zeta Halo, defeat the Banished forces who control the ring, and unravel even more mysteries along the way."
