The Borderlands movie has grown by one more today with the announcement that Janina Gavankar is joining the star-studded cast. Gavankar will play the role of Commander Knoxx, an entirely new character created for the film. Commander Knoxx will be related to the General Knoxx character from the games. According to the lovable Randy Pitchford, Commander Knoxx is the General's daughter and also a member of the Crimson Lance.

Gavankar is no stranger to either films or video games. She played Angela in the film The Way Back and has a recurring role in the TV series, The League. She was the voice of Amita in Far Cry 4, and played the lead role of Iden Versio in Star Wars Battlefront 2.

She will join the cast alongside Cate Blanchett (Lilith), Edgar Ramierez (Atlas), Kevin Hart (Roland), Jamie Lee Curtis (Tannis), Ariana Greenblatt (Tiny Tina), Jack Black (Claptrap), and Florian Munteanu (Krieg). Eli Roth is directing the film based off of a screenplay by Chernobyl's Craig Mazin.
